First off I want to say that I recognise that MCSM isn't perfect and certainly could have been better. The main problem is that Telltale played it too safe - which is kind of understandable since Minecraft has such a large under-12 fanbase, but they could certainly have concocted a tale that felt like it had a weightier storyline and more meaningful moral decisions while still keeping it family friendly. Telltale certainly erred on the side of caution here. It IS actually possible to create a plot that has a little something for everyone no matter how young or old, but Telltale fell a bit short of that here. Ideally it would have been more "Disney/Pixar at their best" instead it's more "Saturday morning cartoon".
That said MCSM is far, far from a terrible game or an embarrassment to Telltale or the Minecraft franchise. It's obviously a well crafted game with plenty of thought put into it, Telltale obviously put quite a lot of effort into researching the Minecraft "subculture" on servers, and they did successfully create characters you can actually care about which isn't that easy. I have played all the available episodes now a couple of times over with my 5 year old daughter and my nieces and nephews aged 3-11 and we all had a blast. And people who say it has "bad voice acting" have obviously never played an ios/android game in their lives. Or even too many pc games for that matter.
I honestly think people like to hate on this game because they think it makes them look all snooty and sophisticated and cool...or something. Like oh I hate this "kid's game" by someone "who Mojang just sold the rights to", that makes me a real connoisseur of the arts. Or because they just have the sort of odious stuck up mindset that thinks anything new and different must be terrible by default. I mean some people just decided they hated it before the game was even released. That can't possibly be rational, that's some silly bias.
So what is the point here? (I only mean, what are you trying to talk about)
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
I have returned after all these years and I'm internally dying inside whenever I think about the posts I've done prior to this current year. Just don't look at them.
It's not an embarrassment to either. Yet it is still overall a poorly played game. I do love the combat, but as the game is, it was a wasted feature. Most of the game is just an audiobook with animations, with gameplay added in to disguise it as such. It was a great marketing ploy, so I do agree that it should have been done, purely for the monetary value. Otherwise, I don't like it much. This isn't saying I hate it though, I don't really care if it's here or not, just not my cup of tea.

I'd say mc story mode is still very weak compared to other similar games. that being said I see no reason to hate it, nobody is forcing me to play it anyway.
But the other ones have a good story... And choices actually effect the story. Unless they changed this in the latest chapter, the choices meant nothing. "What weapon did you craft?" was a thread about Story Mode. Really?

I realize I clean forgot I made this thread but...
You sound like you know full well what my point is but want to get across some point or your own. Or you would not have left a comment with a rude tone to it. Since my main point is clearly there the title - a lot of the clear dislike, if you prefer that to "hate", seems to me to come from arrogance; IE people just trying to be hipster or something rather than from some objective quality deficiencies in the game.
I will attempt to put it more clearly:
Do you think some people get some sort of enjoyment out of saying MCSM sucks because it makes them feel cool or sophisticated rather than from some genuine lack of quality in the game?

Minecraft is forever eternal...

Inactive account. See Bio.
That is pretty much what Telltale games are.
Figured it was time for a change.

Miner's nightmare preset
Miner's nightmare preset (original terrain)
Killing the Ender Dragon, no damage (no armor/potions/enchantments/pumpkin)

It's DEFINITELY an embarrassment for TellTale but not for MC. You know what I mean.
