It's still a completely different game with a different story. It's not like a TV show where you have to wait for the next season to see the next part of the story, the main story always finishes itself at the end.
Example: Walking Dead Season 1 was about a guy named Lee handling stuff, and the story wrapped itself up at the end. Walking Dead Season 2 was about a girl named Clementine who was mentored by Lee, and the story wrapped itself up at the end. Season 3 will probably be about an older Clem, who will have a new storyline that will wrap itself up at the end. All the additional seasons do is continue the characters, it's not a scheme to get more moneh.
And how do know this is how it will work? Most cartoons don't follow that rule, in fact, most shows don't do that either.

In JP:TG, they put clever cliff-hangers at the end of each episode, so I can assure you that it's a clear possibility that MC:SM won't be set up the same way.
Every game they do is DLC. You have to buy each episode separately. You have to pay to download more content in order to progress in the game.
By that logic, Minecraft, everything on Steam, everything on Xbox Live Arcade, and everything on the Playstation Store is DLC. Also, mods, maps, and texture packs are all technically DLC. The sterile definition of something is not synonymous with the public's feelings toward it. That's why nobody is allowed to use swastikas anymore without the Nazi empire coming to mind.
I'm not gonna get it. the moving faces look too weird. and the graphics looks like your average slamacow animation.
What right do you have to complain about graphics? Minecraft itself is as abstract as you can get. Also, when I saw the trailer to Story mode I thought of this not this .
I wouldn't use the word "hate" so strongly as I would use the term "dislike"
The reason so many people "don't like it" is because we've all evolved as an industry together. You see, back in the old days things like this would have been "cool". Some of us have evolved past stuff like this, and as far as I'm concerned, the majority of Minecraft's fanbase is so conflicted when anything new comes to the table. Take the 1.8 (beta) update for example; people whined and moaned about all of the drastic changes and now look where we're at.
People will never be 100% satisfied when you throw stuff like that in their face. Like I've said, some of us have evolved past this type of stuff.
Regardless, everyone will have a different opinion on things. Don't let those dislikes get to you; for all you know, it just might be the most epic Minecraft-themed story ever made! If you like something just remember not to give up on it until it gives up on you. Peace.

Personally I think Story Mode will be just fine. Though I like Minecraft for the creative aspect, sometimes a story-driven game is fine. You can pretty much think of Story Mode as an adventure map that's released in five parts and has a special texture pack that also adds more animations and such.
And I mean hey, you don't HAVE to get Story Mode if you don't like the idea of it.

Looks like a money grab to me. Just being honest. Reminds me of how Scot Cawthon is milking every last drop out of the Five Nights at Freddy's series. Mojang is milking every last drop out of Minecraft.

You're completely right on that one. This'll be the beginning of Minecraft becoming another fad, eventually, with all of this popularity, it'll be just like Five Night's at Freddy's, albeit a fad that lasted a while longer.

I remember Etho saying one of the great things about Minecraft is that you don't have to sit around watching things in order to play. I'm pretty sure Story mode will be a whole lot of sitting around and waiting to play. I'm not interested, but I am sure it will find an enthusiastic audience.
I must ask: what's the appeal of buying/playing this game?
Normal minecraft (oh god, now we have to call it "normal minecraft") doesn't have a real story or characters, but is very creative. Story mode takes your favorite part of minecraft, creativity, and removes that and replaces it with story, meaning that the two games are very different. So why would you want this? Think about this, besides having "Minecraft" printed on it and having a blocky back-drop, it's a ordinary adventure game. The game itself shows nothing really revolutionary (I'd say the opposite), so why not buy a better adventure game with a more developed lore or interesting concept behind it? Or are you telling me you would pay just because it says "minecraft" on it?

I freakin' loved that slamacow video.
Why are people comparing MCSM's trailer to THAT?
If anything, they should have hired Slamacow or Element Animations to animate their crap.

I'll gladly listen to your reasons why.
Story Mode was brought to my attention. Like all games, I am interested in a slight degree. For me, having Minecraft attached is not the sole reason to buy. It's just another game and it was brought to my attention. Doesn't hurt to try something before discounting it, even for a studio or developer that has failed in the past. I might wait until it is at dustbin prices, but I would still be interested in trying it.
I have never avoided a game because someone's article or opinion said it was bad.
The reason why I don't like story mode personally, is because it just looks so...cheesey. The animation (not sure if that was actual play footage) looks like one of those half-baked, dumb, 10 year old made animations using Bandicam. And the storyline? Come on. They can be more creative and original. (Though it being Telltale, I'm not sure they can.) For me, Telltale is notorious for making just really bad quality games that no one has ever heard of for a reason.

Oh come on, I don't see how anyone could not be hyped for this. It looks spectacular. Seriously, a proper interactive animated high quality Minecraft video. Have a go at this and tell me it was stupid and boring:
Did you not read the previous posts...?!? We were saying that the animation was absolutely horrible and that there's a reason why Telltale isn't popular. Have you played Telltale games? Like we've said before, it's just point and click. That's it.
Don't buy everything that's spoon-fed to you. Think and have some respect for yourself.

The fun thing is that actually, everyone disliked/hated minecraft when it first came out, but after a few months it turned out into one of the best sellers of videogames in the actuality.
No one liked Creative when it came out. No one liked Survival when it came out. But now look, everyone that plays minecraft loves those gamemodes...
The world is like that, people tend to make bad opinions about new things, when they even don't know how it is. You guys first need to try it out and see if this new story mode looks good.
With this video of presentation of Minecon, it actually seems pretty great and interesting, but I may not like it when I try it out.
You guys should do the same before criticize about every other thing.
And how do know this is how it will work? Most cartoons don't follow that rule, in fact, most shows don't do that either.

Heh.

Nothing else to say from me here.
Haha all these 2015 players.
You'll never understand why this is a terrible feature.
Wow, didn't see the trailer until just now. Looks awesome.
It's not a feature. It's a separate game entirely from Minecraft.
Wish placing blocks directionally was easier? Check out this suggestion!
