I ain't a hardcore gamer, got no chops, just build in creative/peaceful/host/no weather or day cycle (PS3 and sometimes 4)
Have a friend at work who's hardcore Survival and has a family server setup. His world is massive.
Is it possible for me to get onto a good server (here or with him) in ONLY Spectator Mode? My desire is to look around, learn, and get ideas for my worlds. I no desire at all to screw with/build/muck around with someones world, I just want to look....
Got no idea how to do that or if it's even possible...

This ain't no party, this ain't no disco, this ain't no foolin' around...
There isnt really a way for servers on ps3 but you can share a world with family members. And as for just looking at a friends world you could always just quickly join in and have a look around, although you'll still exhaust and have hunger... I'm not sure how ps4 minecraft works really but there might be some sort of spectator camera view on it, Dont take my word for it though.
Also if you're looking for some inspiration there are some pretty big builders on YouTube, my personal favourite is Jeracraft as he does many big scale builds such as transforming caves to be more fantastical and making observatories, dams and castle towns
Here's just one of his videos, take a look if you'd like
Oh yeah I also forgot... Ps3 doesn't technically have servers but if you have an extra ps3 you can make a world on it and set it to online then hide the player. Then the ps3 will act as a sort of server and any other ps3s you have can add the account that the "Server" is on then since the ps3 is always on anyone can join when they feel like it and not have to worry about if say you made the world on your profile and everyone has to wait for you to wake up to play on it
Another noob question from an old man...
