Playing latest update on PS3, normal survival mode. Regular number of squid, wolf and ocelot but almost no sheep, cow's or pigs. I also notice a lack of aggressive mobs but I'm more concerned with my sheep and cow's. There are NO horses or llamas, and few chickens. My other seeds are fine but this one has all biomes and no mobs. What gives? Any fixes?
Sounds like cap is filled already. Do you have pens with animals in them? Do you live next to a jungle? Or in one? Jungles are terrible for trapping mobs in small spaces where they will not despawn. Those mobs may be taking up the cap and not allowing new mobs to spawn. Old gen console also does not unload chunks once they are loaded, meaning no matter how far you walk away the cap is still full. To get around this get far away from your base and save and exit and re-load your world. This unloads those chunks and new mobs should spawn.
4J seems to have all mob spawning slowed down, I notice it most on my 360, a general overworld mob farm that used to make 16,000 items/hr is now down to 10k.
