I just updated to the latest version of minecraft on PS3. I was expecting to be able to go in and play my worlds where I left off. I clicked on a previously saved world and it was like it only loaded half way. The blocks weren't complete and a lot of the blocks were see threw or missing entirely. I tried to create a new world but the same thing happened. I restarted my system and still the same thing was happening. How do I fix this? I just wanna play.
You must have back up of your world and update it regurlary. My world crash time to time. I delete corrupted save and load back up from USB flash memory
I have the same problem with my system. I did some tests and here's what i found.
Most of the blocks have missing/ altered textures when placed. Excluding wood, stone, redstone, and entities, everything else appears to have a stretched combination texture. Water and lava appears to be still but it still flows. Entities like arrows, dropped items, minecarts, mobs still function and look normal.
The blocks in inventory and hand still have their respective texture but its when the block is placed that it gets altered. I have loaded different worlds, created new ones, tried the demo world as well as the other expansion worlds, all with their respective texture packs and with different ones. I tried exiting the game and reloading the game but it still looks the same. HOWEVER if i turn off the system and reload the system, the textures are altered. Im not saying this fixes the issue but i have seen it revert back to normal once every 20 or so system restarts. I have uninstalled, reinstalled, and reupdated the game to its current state with no change. Im assuming this is an issue with how the system launches Minecraft with the newly applied update and its not the game or the system separately. I myself still struggle with this problem but i hope i have answered some questions but not the most important one.
To add to my investigation of this problem. I did more out of game experiments to try to fix it.
I tried deleting the three minecraft files (Temporary data, Save data {not to be confused with individual worlds}, and options. None of these worked.
I made a new account and it worked on a newly generated world as well as pre installed worlds. HOWEVER I tried copying my affected worlds to the new profile and the same glitch from before occured. Seems like a new update corrupted our existing worlds.
The only way I can play is to use my secondary account with brand new worlds. The only way for me to play with others is via split screen. Online is still disabled for me on the secondary. Dont bother talking to Mojang, they sent me to sony and microsoft and I wrestled with all of them with no results.
I don't remember seeing this bug reported but I don't look at all of the bug reports.
Fyi Mojang and Microsoft really have nothing to do with our version except owning the IP. 4J Studios develops the console version (Not Better Together).

Try uninstalling the game the redownloading. Maybe the update went wrong and corrupted the game.
Don't delete your saves though
