Options: Generate structures, bonus chest others not sure. Fire spreads and TNT explodes were off.
How long before: Maybe 15-30 min? Really not sure.
Things really got bad when I was hunting down areas that hostiles were spawning. Dropping items upon death didn't help at all, a lot worse actually. Very slideshow like. I had previously dug out areas below two close by mob spawners for a farm. No redstone in, and mob spawners were deactivated via torches.

No, its a lot worse than that, lasts for a good ten to fifteen seconds, maybe longer. As others have described, the frame rate drops so low that its like watching a slide show.
Are people saying the same issue as shown in this video (16 seconds in)
Sort-of. What I experienced was substantially worse, and prolonged. One lag/fps drop I had was roughly 30 seconds or maybe longer at worst that I experienced. That was when the creeper blew me up and I had to go back to the cave for my items.
Edit: I might add, It was practically 2-3 fps for about 15-30 seconds if I had to describe it.
World Options you had enabled: trust, fire spreads, tnt explodes (tried turning off all options in one of my seeds with same stuttering lag spikes occurring)
How long before it started happening from world creation/load: 15 mins or so?
terrible stuttering lag, freezing, fps drops that never occurred prior to this update. Thanks so much for checking into this for everyone! It really makes the game nearly unplayable at times.
I've been getting the exact same lag since the update that Zayne and Inland are talking about.

We started that map about two weeks ago, and it started getting the lag right after the update, usually when we were building or removing blocks.
My girlfriend just started a new map to work on the different biomes achievement and didn't experience any lag after running around that map for about half an hour. She didn't build or remove but a few blocks in that time.

I would say that is a good example of what is going on, however it is lasting longer than just a quick little bump. I will gather information from my map and let you know.

Steve, simple answer to your request for more information: I'm playing a random seed started after TU27, single player, survival, hard setting. All settings are default except music volume is set to 0% and autosave is off.

mine has random lag spike everywhere,my worst lag spike i had was like 1fps,like moving very so slow, kinda like every footstep when i walked,i thought i gonna froze but then i saved the game and it doesnt lag when saving it.then in the nether i am building on something it lags also but not that worst and not much, but in overworld is the worst.:(
Like others, i have had considerable framerate issues since the last update. It has happened in multiple seeds (all that i have played). Single player and split screen. Sometimrs its as bad as single digit fps. The problem happens every time i play and comes and goes randomly and consistently. I have noticed nothing consistent- day vs night, above ground or undergrounnd, etc. for the other settings, other then creative and survival changes, we dont touch any of the other settings. They are all the presets.

Thanks Steve. I dot know if this affects it, but I realized last night, the chunk I've been in for a while, is a slime chunk. Don't know if that adds to the lag or not.
Edit: I took a moment to record an example of what the lag is like for us, nothing like the video posted before.

That video does not show how bad the lag really can get. Every time it does it to me the lag usually lasts around 30 seconds
