Probably related, I also noticed it lags hard after saving now, even on practically empty worlds. Arrows won't launch, chests either don't open or take a long time, etc. Sometimes it crashes shortly after (either giving the Failed to Load error or just saying "An error has occurred"), sometimes it recovers from the lag and works normally again until the next save.

I disabled autosave seems to help me haven't had the error since
Yup. I had this setting for the longest time, and it seems to help some. However, for the first 2 days, when I went to save manually, it used to crash almost constantly.
I've switched to the Festive Texture Pack (to celebrate the holidays right) and haven't had problems since. I'm not sure of this has anything to do with it, or not, though.
I get either this message or "An error has occurred. Save game?" (or something like that), and then when you try to exit it doesn't let you and you have to restart, so either way the end result is the same.
I've had to completely stop hosting my main 24/7 PS3 server (from the previous update, 22 megabyte save) and host two add-on maps from the new update. People enjoy the add-on maps still, but I have 50+ people who miss the main server. It's totally impractical for me to host it as a 24/7 because when I'm online, it will save successfully and then crash a few moments after. I know 4j is working on it, but they said this issue would be fixed in TU31 - I appreciate the work but they need to hurry up. I bought another copy of Minecraft PS3 Edition just to host 24/7 on a separate PS3, and being unable to do that because their game doesn't perform as advertised is very disappointing.

This has been only happening to me snice the last update and quite frequently too..... Now I can't even get the game to load up at all.
Edit: I use the disk version of the game.
downloaded the digital copy and it seems to have no issues - although I can't access my survival save from the digital copy of the game π
Another update: I put another Disk I had for the other PS3 in my house and put it in my PS3 and the game loaded up just fine.... This is extremely weird
Absolutely no mention of this issue, despite them saying they would have it fixed by TU31
I think it's safe to say that, based on it being the most popular Console Edition issue on the bug reporting site, this is the only problem PS3 players really care about. I've seen plenty of comments of people saying their children are no longer interested in playing Minecraft with them because they get tired of repeatedly losing progress - and I do too.
It makes it impossible to host a 24/7 world, which is the only reason I bought a second copy of Minecraft. That, in turn, makes me lose respect for 4j as a company and lose any desire to support them through buying merchandise, convincing my friends to buy Minecraft, etc. Very simply, their product does not work as advertised. Why even have a "24/7" tag for threads on the official PS3 forums if it's impossible to host 24/7 on PS3?
Incredibly disappointing. If they had no intention of fixing it by this update, they shouldn't have said they were going to. (There are these screenshots + on the bug reporting site, they said it should be fixed "by the next major title update" around when the update with Acacia / Dark Oak wood (not saplings) was released)
My guess is that people are buying it more on new systems, so they don't really care about the people who already bought it on old consoles; we're low-priority players, it seems.
I don't see any mention of it in the next Bug Fix listing either....
Thankfully I've been lucky and haven't had it happen to me for awhile now (knock on wood) maybe because I'm not abusing any glitches like x-ray or duplication as it has only happened when I used these glitches in the past.
Good post though. A real "In Your Face" deal to 4J.
Lets hope @4jSteve replies with something good.

It happens to me on a practically empty server; I now have to host comparatively pitiful "add-on servers" instead of main server, which all my players are pretty tired of, because my main server will no longer stay online since the update. It saves once successfully, and then crashes. Every. Single. Time. But despite using a brand new, near-empty server, I still can't host 24/7. I get "An error has occurred, exit the game?" more often, but it's the same result. It wouldn't surprise me if they were even connected errors, because I always seem to get one or the other within roughly the same time frame - about every 6-10 hours.
I'm just ridiculously disappointed, frustrated, and regret buying another copy to host 24/7 since I can't do it anyway. It used to crash a manageable amount, as infrequently as once per day, but since the last update it's totally unmanageable. I am a student and have a job, I'd love to host a 24/7 server in my spare time but I just can't afford to sit there and restart it once per hour.
I went to go mine. got 23 diamonds in a mineshaft. took an hour. later i built a farm. then afterwards a brewing room, my own room, sort all my junk in my chests into certain chests, and made a guardian fish tank (hour using fishing rods to pull them away from the monument, into my house...) maybe like 4-5 hours in total. i thought, "i'm gonna go play unturned now." i saved and got the message. i was so furious that i didn't say anything and stared at the sorry-excuse of an error message. i was in survival, i'm not going to do allll of that again.
Couldn't it have something to do with Not having the disc or does it happen with that too?

Big minecraft fan!! 31 years old. Have played off and on for 3 years. Red stone contraptions, xp farms, survival, creative, adventure mode and build help. Have done it all. Really just all about having fun. My gamer tag is Project30 hit me up. very active and creative.
Then if it ain't that then maybe you have to many redstone activity or mine carts otherwise there may be other data from other games that may cause the crash?
You should probably read the thread before trying to suggest solutions. People (myself included) have experienced this crash on practically brand-new, totally blank maps, and when it was the only map in the Save Data.

OH MY GOD!!π’ I just built a GIANT haunted house I saved the game and it stopped ππ’π’π’π’π£I STAYED UP UNTIL 5:00 IN THE MORNING THEN BECAUSE OF THAT DIDNT GET UP FOR SCHOOL BECAUSE I STAYED UP ALL NIGHT!!!YOU DID A TERRABLE JOB MOJANG IM NEVER PLAYING MINECRAFT ANYMORE UNTIL U FIX THISππππ’π¦π£π³
GUYS I THINK I KNOW HOW TO FIX THIS!!!TRY TO DELETE ANY UNUSED FILES ON YOUR PS3 BECAUSE I THINK THAT BY SAVING YOUR GAME IT ADDS FILES BUT YOUR PS3 CANT HANDLE EVERYTHING AT ONCE SO THE GAME IS FORCED TO STOP!! (that's what I would do if I had to keep running for miles without a break and the ps3 feels the same)hope this helpsπ

Sadly, no, that won't fix it. I've had it happen to me on a map which was literally the only save file on that account on the PS3. Plus, why would Minecraft have anything to do with "unused files"? There's only a single file for your save data, and then another save or two for settings-related things. And those will be there for every single map. It's not like Minecraft tries to access save data from different games or something.
It's a nice thought, but it gets frustrating when people keep suggesting solutions which..are not actually solutions. The only way this will be fixed is if 4j does it themselves. You know, like they said they were going to, in tu31.

Still happening. The most recent update seems to have slightly improved it (it crashes less often), but absolutely did not fix it. Useless bug fix in that case, imo.

The new tutorial is unplayable because of this for me, it happens consistently within minutes of loading it.

Found this thread because I too, am having this issue.
-15 minute autosave interval.
-occasionally happens on manual save.
I play for HOURS at a time, and it has happened... ~8 times tonight already. (or is it morning?)
I have Minecraft for PC as well, love the mods, but I am playing the PS3 version for the trophies.
I'm just missing 4.(Hardest being the Explorer trophy.)

Nope, people have had it happen with both disc-based and digital versions of Minecraft.
