I was playing Minect aft and went offline for a few minutes. I came back and decided I was going to load up the world I was in last. Only it was deleted. I definently didn't do this. Something even weirder was that a new world was created. I'm basically wondering, how do I prevent my worlds being deleted?
I think why nobody has replied to this post is because it's an issue that nobody has come across before....or if so its extremely rare. There really isnt anything you can do to protect a world you've created....unless you regularly back up your saved game data to USB or do something similar to that. Having said that it would be pretty annoying having to do that with every game you play right from the get-go.
Always make sure when you leave your game you save first. Apart from that I really don't know what to suggest. Not much help I know......sorry. if it's any comfort worlds don't generally delete themselves......so the likelyhood of it happening again is pretty remote.

Have you checked inside your 'Saved Data Utility(PS3)' folder just above the 'Playstation Store' in the Games Tab to make sure it really is deleted? You should have at least 3 MC files in there ('Options', 'Save Cache', and your world/s). I have been using PS3 for years now and have never had any of my save files deleted unless I deleted them myself.
If the PS3 was shut off improperly (cord unplugged or sometimes even just pressing the power button instead of selecting 'Turn System Off') while the game was still running there is also the possibility that the save file was corrupted.
Well, another world I worked hard in got deleted. My friends has had random worlds get deleted 4 times, and I have encountered this situation twice (the second time just being a few minutes ago.) I'm not going to even by her working on a world when it just gets deleted.
Wow...that sucks. I really sympathise for you. I'd be devastated if I lost some of my world....in particular my creative builds. Really sorry your having the issues with deleted saves.

Check your PS3 Storage capacity, I know ages ago and I'm talking like 5 years ago there was in issue where when you reached data capacity on the ps3 it would delete saved data to make room for new downloads and installations without the proper notification popping up telling you that you had to make space. It was patched but Sony is notorious for having previosly fixed issues crop back up, Like PSN store timing out and Trophy data being cleared form your on console profile.
Ya I would not blame Minecraft for that, I lost about 5 different Dragon Age Origins files. Back when I first got the game and was saving in different files left and right so I could reboot form different areas of the game after about 5 days of play I went to go back to earlier parts of the game and notices the saves where gone and my PS3 was full.
As for data corruption that happens mostly when a PS3 is shut down incorrectly while saving or booting up saved data,
when utility is removed/ deleted incorrectly,
a games insulation or update is interrupted and dose not have a chance to clear the incomplete data thus corrupting game utility data ( the stuff the game needs on the PS3 to run),
If have issues like this and you have room to spare on your PS3 delete Minecraft and all its Saved data preferences and all that, you can copy your Worlds on to a USB drive so that it is 100% off your system then re download/ install the game or game data then copy your worlds back on to your PS3, This has worked for me in about 3 different game that have had saved file corruption issues. (Darksiders 2, Resistance 3, Dragon Age 2, Infamos)
This has been happening constantly to me and my friend and it has been annoying us after building 25x25 water doors and hotels up to sky limit with working elevator to the top.

Something nobody else has mentioned - get a new hard drive. They're not all that expensive now, and if you're losing a lot of saves I'd assume you just might have some drive issues. A new notebook drive might give you more space AND more speed!
We play Minecraft daily, four people often playing two to four-player split screen, and we've had exactly one corrupted save in over a year, and that happened with shutting the ps3 down unexpectedly.
Hi, Recently i was updating my Minecraft PS3 edition and I left it updating and went somewhere for a few hours. When I came back the PS3 shut off. When I went on Minecraft and i went on my world it was empty, all my houses and everything was erased but the world was still there. HAS THIS BEEN HAPPENING TO ANYONE ELSE! PLEASE HELPP!!!
i think for you the download might have completed but by the time u came back the ps3 automatically shutdown u can chhange that in the sttings so it doesnt automaticaly shutdown when ur not using it
My MC crashed on me and the error read MC failed to continue and when I got back on my world was deleted . I checked my ps save files and it wasn't there either. I feel your frustration.
I just had a world mysteriously disappear and in the save data utility file where it should be there is a square with a zig zag through it and a bunch of letters and numbers, I know it was the world that mysteriously disappeared because in the description of the file it had the name of the world. Has anyone else had this happen and is there a way to fix it?
If its corrupted data that hasn't been deleted then try restoring the file system. To do that you'll need to enter Safe Mode. Here's a tutorial on how to access the Safe Mode menu. All you need to select is Restore File System, don't select any of the other options unless you know what you're doing. Also I can't guarantee this will work, but I've found it to be useful.
This just happened to me have spent the last two months with my friends building entire world with the intent on it being an adventure start from the beginning see how far you can get that type of thing was doing some minor bridge work a little while ago decided to save and quit everything went fine came back about an hour later to load the world back up and it was deleted
My world that I spent years on was deleted due to the latest update on PS3. I checked my ps save files & it wasn't there either. If have issues like this & you have room to spare on your PS3 delete Minecraft & all its Saved information preferences & all that, you can copy your Worlds on to a USB drive so that it is 100% off your method then re download/ install the game or game information then copy your worlds back on to your PS3.

Ah I may know the answer but have you had a map made from a different title update like an older one? Looking forward to your reply?

You can do that but can you get the world back and how?

It's also been happening to all of my most recently saved worlds.
