Watching PC youtubes will mess you up for consoles. All the versions are different from each other. None of them can do everything any of the other versions can do. It's a common misconception: that "Minecraft" is....well, "Minecraft". Nope. There's different versions of the basic game of "Minecraft"- and they aren't alike.
As for your youtube, I only watched the first 20 seconds. This is the PC version with a mod (no mods on consoles!) so no, you can't do this on a ps3.
Save yourself some heartache: only watch youtubes of the version you're gonna play.
There are basically four versions of Minecraft: PC, mobile (iOS and Android), console (360 and PS3), and Raspberry Pi. Each one of those has an assortment of features that the other ones don't. For example, the PC version has hoppers and more mobs. The console versions allow splitscreen play. The mobile version has Nether Reactors. Each also has its own limitations: the PC version has chunk loading issues, the console versions have a limited world size and number of mobs, the mobile edition has only some of the features of the others, etc. (and the Raspberry Pi edition is the red-headed stepchild) The PC and mobile editions permit the use of modifications ("mods") and texture packs, but different ones. The console editions have downloadable mash-up packs, but the MS and Sony EULAs prohibit actual mods. Ad infinitum.
Save your sanity: watch videos for (or read books and websites about) the particular edition that you have. PS3 and XBox 360 versions are effectively the same, as far as features go, so either one will work there. Likewise for the Android and iOS versions of the mobile (though modding is its own whole hairball between them). But within the four editions, a lot of things don't transfer, and you'll go crazy trying to figure out how to do what someone was explaining for an edition that isn't the one you have.
I am really confused on how people build these different things on minecraft and if someone can explain would be greatly appreciated
thanks
