I was wondering if anyone could tell me if they added melons naturally growing in the Jungle Biomes? I know they are supposed to be adding that eventually, and last time i played in ps3 the only way to get melons was to find seeds in the abandoned mine shafts or strongholds.

So far this is where I have found seeds in the PS3 version... in mines in random chests (at launch and tu14 update) and in spawn chests (tu14 update). I have loaded countless seeds in trying to find a map for my son and I to play on and have yet to see a melon growing in the wild. I mostly do a fly over of the seed in creative before we pick one to play.
So far I've searched through at least 10 individual seeds with jungles to find wild grown melons and I have not found a single melon in any of them so the melons I saw before were deliberately placed in a jungle by a player in an online session.

Not proof if the odds are low of having it happen randomly - but I haven't seen one, either.
I often play with the "free chest" option - you start next to a chest, and each subsequent time you load that world it generates a new chest placed near the original spawn point (that doesn't change even if you go to bed in another place to change your personal spawn point), as long as the last chest spawned there was removed. Melon seeds are pretty common occurrences in those.

RobN it is proof. They are not naturaly occuring on the map in the PS3 version. Which if you read the thread someone in the first couple of post said such. Both PaperCarrier1980 and I have confirmed this by searching multiple seeds.

Thank you for confirming this off my post. If you read a whole thread, you will know that some of this has already been discussed.
So is that still the only way to get melons?
