The OP's question has already been answered: Sony does not give refunds to people who don't like a game after they bought it. The discussion has moved away from that to whether, and to what extent, 4J had a responsibility to announce if and how the console versions of Minecraft differ from the PC, mobile, and/or Pi versions. That was the issue I was addressing: whether it was reasonable to assume that two programs that differed so widely in every other aspect would nonetheless have identical features. That is, in my opinion, a valid discussion to have (and of course my position on the issue is apparent).

Fair enough.
I think that 4J should have been a bit more forthcoming as to the differences in the products, as they are fairly substantial. I think we are safe to assume that perhaps something as minimal as differences in games between, say, the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3, are not only minimal and hardly worth a concern of glossing over. But I think those contrasts to the PC version, or the pocket edition, are certainly worth a mention by the developer.
When a party has several versions of a program available (and yes, this is usually the same party involved in all versions), it is common to illustrate the differences between them (BurnMyStupidDVD vs. BurnMyStupidDVD Pro vs. BurnMyStupidDVD Elite Platinum HaXor Edition). Of course, we are dealing with a separate developing party and publisher, I understand that. Suffice to say that it would be, perhaps, a more moral thing to do?
I did a bit of research when I picked up MC PS3 Ed. and I learned that I was simply not going to have the ability to go onto servers or easily download levels.. or use modifications. I was a bit misled about the ability to use skins. :/ But many of the differences, such as world size, additional blocks and mechanics, and nuances of that nature were not apparent until I had started playing the PC version and weeks after acquiring the PS3 program.
I'm not upset or angry, let alone seeking a refund. Though I do wish the two versions were a bit closer to each other (especially for online play). But just the same, I think that 4J and Sony.... no, correction.... I think that Sony could have been more clear about what the product included and excluded in content (many products on PSN are horribly deficient in their descriptions, MineCraft being no exception).
EDIT to first paragraphs: Replace "developer" with "publisher". The developer is responsible for coding. The publisher is responsible for marketing, selling, and customer affairs.
I tryin to to play but say bad password and password reset wont work
I paid 49.99 and I cant play how do I get refund or
or who do I call or email?
Usually when you want a refund for something, you contact the party that sold it to you. If you downloaded the game on PSN it was less than $20.00- I don't know who charged you $49.99; did you get a hard copy (disc) from a store or something? In any case, you should contact PSN about your password issue. You wouldn't get a refund for the game since that is not the problem. You don't have to be online to play- only to play multi-player and to update which, again, is a problem with your account login, not the game.
All I've got to say is that you should have looked into it before making your purchase. Let this be a lesson to everyone. Before you spend money, make sure you know what you're actually buying.

This. How hard is it to do a little research when the accessibility to do so is vastly more available? I'm sure it was even quite the focal point of talking about when it was announced and hyped across the internet.

This x2. These folks need to do their homework before spending their money. They have no one to blame but themselves.
Thought twice about putting forth my 2 cents worth.......fair bit of high blood pressure flowing around this issue but hey.....might as well throw my opinion in (at the risk of being flamed).
Me, personally, would not want a refund. I've played the game for countless hours and feel I've gotten my 20 bucks worth. Yes it's got some frustrating bugs....yes updates and patches are infuriatingly slow in coming.....yes it's a watered down, somewhat vasectamised version of the full pc version but that's just how it is. I seriously doubt the PS3 or the PS4 could even cope with the full monty......I mean the game lags like crazy when you build some redstone behemoth or triple spawner trap......can you imagine how terrible it would be with 100% of the stuff on PC?
Researching a game before purchase is not a concept I subscribe to however. I've bought stacks of games just on face value. The difference is most games are "stand alone".....ie......they're not being compared with a pre-existing version. Sequels are the exception to the rule....like Borderlands 2....where you know you're getting a whole new game but theres going to be strong similarities drawn from the previous version. I do think they could've advertised the fact MCPS3 was limited in capacity a bit better than they did - but in the marketing world you never advertise a negative right? But even so I'd still rather have a snipped version of minecraft to play on PS3 than no minecraft at all and would've bought it anyway.
My only real bug bear with MCPS3 is simply 4J studios. Extremely poor PR......slow releasing updates but quick to release cash grab texture and skin packs.....slow fixing bugs.....leaderboards hacked and busted.....the whole "stay as silent as possible and tweet just as things are done" approach......I could go on. I can only imagine how much better MCPS3 would've been if some major game developer hadve taken on the project instead of 4J.....who are essentially small frys in the grand scheme of things. Would I buy another game developed by 4J......probably not. Would I be entitled to a refund on that basis....certainly not. But it is a lesson well learned for next time.
To to wrap it up I really see no way of getting a refund unless the disc/download was completely corrupted and unplayable from the beginning. However with the amount of bugs currently infecting the game 4J and Sony might be heading into choppy legal waters (mere speculation) if enough people wanted to take a class action out against them. But that's not for me to decide.......
