Hi,
I'm relatively new to minecraft and yet to buy the ps3 version, but I have some questions that I'm sure some of you will be able to help with.
1- I'm wondering how multiplayer works. Specifically, I want to know if its possible for me and my friends to play in a single world together, where that world can remain saved from one playing session to another. Basically we'd like to be building things and survive in a world that endures past any one gaming session.
2- If the above is possible, do we all have to be on one version of minecraft? Or can e.g. some of us be on ps3, others on mac?
Im not so sure about the first question, but i'm pretty positive that only PS3 users can connect to PS3 worlds, and Mac users can only connect to PC (Windows, Mac, Linux) Minecraft servers.
1 - Lets say you start a Minecraft world on your PS3. People on your PSN friend's list who also own Minecraft will be able to join your world (assuming you have it set so friends can join). This world only exists on your PS3, so your friends can only join when you are playing it. If you save and quit, you can open the world again whenever you want, exactly where you left off when you quit.
2 - You do all have to be playing on a PS3 version of Minecraft. No cross platform compatibilty, unfortunately.
I see, so if I understand correctly there's no playing asynchronously even though the world is saved. For us to play in the same world the host would have to be playing, and we'd join. Thanks so much for the info!
