But the Xbox 360 has almost identical hardware ( I'm not gonna start a console war here ) and the same amount of ram although the PS3 likes to restrict 256mb of ram for the CPU and another 256mb for the GPU. If the CPU needed more it could not borrow from the GPU even if it was underused. I think for Minecraft the game is more CPU intensive than GPU so that might be a variable.
It'd just take more optimization to get it to run like it does on the 360, and yeah, my guess is that it's purely the split ram causing this.
Besides, I really only have framerate drops in the jungle anyway.
