Sorry if this has been answered else where, but I've looked and not found it.
TL;DR: Switch cannot connect to a LAN world, can't even see them (i.e. running on an iPad). Any way to make this work, or is a Realm the only way to go?
Long version:
I've got a game I've been playing with my son on the iPad and PC. I then bought MC for the Switch.
The Switch can't see a local LAN world. So, to do some testing, I created a few Microsoft live accounts and signed into the PC, the Switch the iPad and the iPhone with separate accounts (all which are friends with each other)
Great, now they can all see the world running on the iPad!
When I try to connect from any device, they all go through the same process:
They show "Connecting to multiplayer game" then after about 10 seconds "Unable to connect to world"
If I now sign out of the Microsoft account on the iPad hosting the world, I can see a new "LAN Game" and I can connect from the PC and the iPhone.
What I want to be able to do is connect from the Switch, the same way I connect from the PC or iPhone.
So far the only solution I can see is to purchase a Realm, as when using Microsoft accounts they don't seem to like talking when all devices are on the same network (maybe there is an assumption you will only be connecting to friends when not physically together?)
I play all the time with friends on android, xbone, and Win10, all the time on local game without any problems. None of us play on an i-anything, so maybe the switch doesn't like it? Can you export the world, load it to pc or droid, and try connecting then?
EDIT: not bashing ixxx stuff, just can't see anything else.
