hey all, I'm back onto doing redstone crap & I just recently found out obsidion can be generated using string or redstone dust, so I looked into the general usage of that, and looked at some redstone designs that used dispensers, which I found could quite easily get the lag needed to waste your lava, and also some piston designs that were either cramped, or caused you to lose obsidion, my solution was (& is still) simple, and easy to build, I am going to turn this thread into more or less a picture guide, as I cannot record vita,
i tried to make it compact, and semi-hideable, as in you can build it above ground, and build a house around it
resources used:
23 redstone dust (for core machine, levers & power wire are extra)
6 repeaters
20 sticky pistons
5 tripwire hooks
3 redstone torches (core machine, lever wiring is extra
2 water buckets
5 lava buckets
5 string or redstone (to generate 5 obsidion)
i chose a 5 long generator, for the simple fact that a player is able to push up to the first piece of obsidion, & mine directly to the last without moving or resituating, without the risk of breaking the back wall (if made)
Notes:
for this to work with string (as intended), the tripwire hooks (picture 4), must face either east, or west****
when not generating the full amount (Eg: <5 pieces on a 5 long generator, subsitute the remaining spaces with a
breakable block, such as dirt.
when building a wall/door, use glowstone blocks above the bottom piston row (not the harvest row),
this ensures players wont break it, and it wont break from the machine
the bottom layer of pistons can be replaced with regular pistons & gravel, this also fixes the issue with having to place a delay on the bottom row when using a button o.O
core machine is done at picture 2, picture 3 onwards is user discretion, and is for wiring your levers, i can give you a guide on how to turn both into buttons but that is another guide xD i will say a block/repeater combo (5x) on full delay is required for the machine to stay activated juwt long enough for the obsidion to generate, when using buttons, the repeater shown going into the back row of bottom pistons MUST be set on 3 ticks, otherwise water spillover will occur from the last block, pushing the player, it gets annoying xD
the repeater at the end below the torch is main power in, the block & line in front is your power block
on the second picture, i should have put the bottom torch on the opposite side, would have saved about 3 redstone dust
dumb >.<
in picture 4, the blue blocks signify key blocks, if removed, the upper one will direct lava spillover towards the outside, the lower will cause water spillover, making them key blocks, they dont specificly need to be blue xD
