I think Minecraft should have different loading screen backgrounds for when you transfer between dimensions. If you go through a nether portal, it should have the nether portal texture. If you go through an end portal, it should show the end portal texture. If you're just teleporting to a long distance away where it needs a loading screen, it should show a shimmering blue particle field texture, as if you're being teleported in Star Trek.
With these different loading screen backgrounds, it should be more close to how portal travel would be if it was in real life. If you walk through a portal, you wouldn't be temporarily stuck in dirt until you reach the other side, would you? This suggestion should get implemented so we have better world loading backgrounds.
While this would likely not effect some people depending on how well their computer load times, I'd have nothing against this.

Okay then here's something I want to add to my suggestion: there should also be an option in the settings to turn on/off animated backgrounds. Or should the animated loading backgrounds only be available for optifine players?
I think it should be possible too to use a custom image for those loading screen background.
Just imagine it.
Are you going to the Nether? Then an epic image of the Nether should be in that background!
Are you going to the End? Maybe a screenshot of you fighting the ender dragon!
Are you entering multiplayer? Why not a pic of you and your faction mates?
Are you returning to the overworld? A pic of your home, sweet home could be there!
It doesn't need to be limited to the default textures.
Maybe even a GIF or video should be implemented, so you can get a cool teleporting animated loading screen.
But that's not my idea of it. My idea is just to use the portal's texture for the loading screen, and if you're just teleporting without a portal, it shows a blue light particle shimmering background as if being teleported in Star Trek. This suggestion is about making it so it would be more realistic to use the portal's texture for the loading screen, not custom images. ...
Well, maybe this suggestion could take on a slight change... people should be able to use custom images as long as they have it enabled in their options.
It would be neat the Nether portal or End portal would replace the boring old dirt when teleporting between dimensions. I don't know how you get loading screens from teleporting a long distance, that had never happened to me, but I wouldn't like a particle field when you teleport without a portal, which I assume is by using commands. As you shouldn't use commands in regular gameplay, it would be in servers and maps, and they could make their own effects if they want to. A futuristic effect would not fit well with everything. Other than that argument, I support.

seems like a good idea, it always shows the dirt texture, so it would be nice to have something different

I have nothing here, go look somewhere else.

How long are your loading times?

Does that sound good?
I don't pay much attention to my loading times but it's usually just a few seconds.
