You guys know those seeds that generate small islands in the ocean, way out in the middle of nowhere.. Well, I thought it would be a cool idea to have a 30% chance of Island Villages spawning on these islands.
The island village would be very small, one to two houses. It would contain one fisherman villager, Named from a generic list of first and last names. The houses would be the same as normal village huts, but would look more abandoned, and contain cobwebs or vines. The village would also have a rare chance of spawning with a small gravestone under a tree. The coffin (Just a renamed chest) would contain random loot, but always bones and cobwebs. It would also be able to contain used iron armor, a fishing pole, and a skull. That's it for this suggestion, hope you guys liked it!
The ideas in this thread are well thought out and balanced. Btw, the chest should also spawn with rotten flesh, and have the ability to spawn with one or two gold ingots or diamonds, representing the dead villager's prized possessions.
The village itself is okay, but the named villager is very out of place.

Yeah, that guy in the avatar is me. I'm *that* strange. It happens. Sometimes people act like that. Just go with it. I can offer help with suggestions even before you post them - NOT make your suggestions - but help you with them.

Why would these villagers have names whilst normal, standard villagers haven't? And I don't think a village would be very suitable on a tiny island in the middle of nowhere either, both for realism and for gameplay purposes. Having villages in the (probably intentionally) hostile ocean, would make them less intimidating.
As everyone said, the named villager is really out of place for a game like Minecraft. Because since realism =\= gameplay, Paul Morgan wont gettin to Minecraft. the rest of the idea is great.

Story behind this: The villagers were on a ship, but it crashed somewhere away from the island. Two villagers survived, and swam their way to an island. The villagers chopped down trees to make little huts. A while later, one of the villagers died from an unknown cause. Now there is only one villager left. I know it's not very realistic, but what in Minecraft is realistic?

Actually it's realistic enough.
So it's not meant to be a full village with a growing population, just one guy stranded with a couple of houses and grave you can loot for treasure. I really like this idea. Full support!

I'd much prefer if it was a normal village, except on an island so it's smaller.
Having a randomly generated name is really odd.

I have a new account called "Mushroomsock" now, so please do not send me PMs.
Yeah you're right, the name would be a bit odd XD because there are no naturally spawning mobs with names right now.

The idea behind seems alright, but I'm not too sure about the named Villager thing, it feels very out of place to have.
