What? We just went over this... I feel like you need an explanation of what /execute does.
The basic use, the one we're using here: /execute <entity> <x y z> <command>
Notice that /execute is a command. Also notice that there is a parameter that accepts a command. This means it's a compound command.
The command GabCraft posted is what you put in the <command> parameter for the /execute command.. Making the final command:
I still don't get why it needs /execute, I did /playsound records.chirp @a -182 66 1042 4 and it worked just fine...
That won't work because it will play the sound from the position the command was executed at and not the position you supply to the command. Darkjuggalo made this clear to us earlier in this thread, I tested and confirmed that it was true. Using /execute will allow you to specify where the sound is played from.
