How many times have you complained already about people complaining?
You act like lag is the equivalent of changing roses to poppies - while that was an aesthetic complaint it didn't make the game physically difficult to play.
Exactly. People need to quit being hypocrites and stop complaining about complaining. And FPS drops are much more common than boosts for people on here, and even if the FPS does raise, it's not stable.

One of the worst things I think they've added since full release were horses. Not because I don't like them, it's because you can't use them on a server with just 2 people. They don't run good at all.
I also think that after 1.2-1.3 it got too easy.
Then the EULA changes ruined it all.
And then 1.8 takes almost a year and is optimized horribly.

Well, my official Realms server went from playing smooth for me to being almost unplayable once it changed over to 1.8, and I was given no choice in the update it was automatic..
So I am paying mojang every day for a server that I cannot use... I guess that means I have even more reason to be upset than some. I'm paying daily for a service I can no longer enjoy. Hmm, that should be actionable... It wouldn't be if they allowed me to keep it at 1.7.10 but they don't.

yeah, so true. I don't really want to argue with the EULA Changes, but the EULA is the EULA, and it's bad. I think. Minecraft is really too easy. I wouldn't be surprised if they added a 'Trivial' difficulty that you can't even take damage nor die due to hunger, and it's even easier than peaceful.

LOL. What do you think forums are for? Are they just here for people to praise notch or something?
How the heck is the developer going to know what it's customers are thinking about their product and updates if there isn't a place for them to post? Your solution is for everyone not busy praising the dev to just shut up and pray silently that things magically get better when the next update comes out a year from now...
Didn't you know that we are Mojang's testers for Minecraft? Mojang opened itself up from the very start as being open to public communication about Minecraft, so who are you to say otherwise? God I get tired of hearing this crud from the NDF and New-Peoples-NDF every version for all these years.. What the heck do you think you have to defend? And who asked you to do it? Why oh why are you so very desperate to shut up people who feel differently than you do? I guess some people don't believe in Freedom of Speech unless its theirs.
* And shutting down this thread would just cause a mess of dozens of other threads like it to spawn to replace it. Not a very wise forum managment decision. Far better to keep as much as possible focused in this thread where people like you can just easily ignore it.
-- Though oddly you can't can you? You guys are drawn to these threads that you hate like flys to bug-zappers, and comments from people complaining about the "complainers" probably make up 2/3's of the threads posts and cause at least 1/2 of the other 3rd to occur in response to yours... Oh the Irony...
They practically rewrote the code so that why it took a whole year. Bugs are inevitable due to that, but I have faith in mojang and that they will be fixing those bug in time and get it all smoothed out.
I love 1.8. I mostly play single player survival and the lag isn't so bad in my experiences (unless generating new chunks which was always bad anyway).
The commands are a nice thing I think. I don't use commands too much but command block + more commands cannot be bad.
Love the world border as it tends to make me get familiar with my surroundings and then it's much easier to find my way home without the use of torches to light the way as well as adds a little difficulty as not everything is available as soon as you start usually.
Armor stands are good if you don't run mods because yeah modded armor stands are better overall but they fit into the game and probably should have been there long ago.
Enchanting is way better. Lapis has a use and I only spend 3 of my 30 lvs on a lv 30 enchant and get to see what I'm getting. What's not to love
New things to explore and find is great always.
Villagers got an overhaul. Trading is better I think and they harvest your farms as long as you supply them with goods. Awesome job there mojang.
I've been playing modded pretty much since before the 1.7 release and just got bored of all the mods and with not playing vanilla for so long, coming back has a very refreshing feel. I'm very pleased with what they've been doing.

I would be ok with the update, but so much is broken. That new mob AI? Broken. Animations? Broken. Pets? Broken. Optimizations? Broken. :| Maybe 1.8.1 will be ok.
Just saying, but lag is clientside and depends on your computer.
You're obviously running 1.8 on a toaster, since my computer is barely "Good" and it runs fine.
It is a huge mishmatch of variables. Some really good computers are getting lag while laptops aren't.

I am unsure as to how you are able to perceive such as "broken". They are not deemed as such unless they are utterly unplayable.
The only exception here would be optimization, as it does victimize many in which it may provide an unplayable atmosphere.

The new mob AI doesn't work for me, animations are slow, pets don't teleport or move fast enough to attack stuff. It's all not great. Grats on 2k posts though.

I'm with this guy here. I'm now burning away days because Mojang finds it perfectly fine to release 1.8 without any praise or hype, and to not fix it either with it needing serious 'medical' support. They simply say "1.8 is up! Knock yourselves out!" without any actual professional 1.8 blog post or hype. Only a semi-happy tweet to only find that it lags like a rotten pile of **** - like a snapshot basically. What we've been given is a snapshot pretending to be the full release because Mojang either A) Doesn't give a **** or They have external issues to take care of that's screwing with their old habits of instantly patching up any issues. They haven't commented back at any social media for the last 5-6 days, or from what I can find. They're being suspiciously quiet.
I can barely play on Realms. I can't go near water and I have to stay in a little bubble of an area if I even do want to play. Being in water causes the rendering to slow own even further with the added bonus of more lag. I have to rely on people with less lag to do resource runs along with their impatience of going into /gamemode 3 to gather supplies further away. They still obtain lag so it isn't about having a better computer either, it's about the poor messy coding done on Mojang's side of things. It feels ominous only because they're being needlessly silent right now with a game version needing a serious fix the choppy lag we're getting, boats de-syncing and being imploding happy, and with two-block tall flowers showing the purple version glitch upon break-up. It's still unstable and unpolished. It feels like a snapshot that has been given a costume to pretend to be an official 1.8 release.
1.8 is the first version where I'm both happy for the features while also being highly disappointed with how you obtain mob heads AND the unplayable unstable choppy lag and performance. It's mostly the performance I hate for this 1.8 side of things. I'm basically forcing myself to play so I don't waste away my Realms subscription. The more Mojang pushes off the 1.8 fix the more I feel ripped off. I already had my toes stepped on when trying to upload a modified version of our Realms map to only hit the 500 mb limit. I'm now thinking of swapping hosting when I find the time is right and when 1.8 is fixed
Edit: I can curse all I want. I don't care, give me all the warnings you want. I don't even go here as much as I should. I'm just here to vent how useless 1.8 is right now with how poorly it is performing like a snapshot and with how Mojang is stealing my Realms sub thanks to 1.8.

There's a 500 MB Limit for uploads to Realms? There have been several times now where I have been frustrated by how many things about realms like limits etc are not written anywhere, at least not when I looked, despite the fact that it is supposed to be a professional service that we are paying for every month. If there are limits of any kind they need to be clearly listed in the service description, whatever they are. Like the original limits in the number of times you could download your world. There were none listed anywhere and yet they did exist, I have the screen shot to prove it. That may have changed since then just like the download method has, due to my interactions with the support team early on.

Consider this: You have this game you spent about $20 on. I know I did like 4/5 years ago and I play it nearly every day. (I'm 44, btw) They just keep adding to the beauty of this game.
Now consider if this game were made by EA or another gaming corporation (the worst thing that could happen is if EA bought Mojang) What do you think would happen then? How much do you think this new update would have cost you? Perhaps each addition in the update would have been a microtransaction and you'd have to decide if you want to spend $5 for bunnies, or $5 for slime blocks and armor stands.

Going from 32 bit Java to 64 bit is the biggest improvement you can make at the moment.
This is data from LeslieGilliams' testing in this thread.
Get 64 bit Java here (you need 64 bit Windows): https://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
