And if they don't like it, They can switch back to older versions. Pretty ironic how you're sitting here yelling about how the devs are lazy idiots when they put in a feature specifically for people like you, who wanted the older versions. I am honestly convinced at this point that they could cater to you're every whim and you would still find something to complain about.
And making and continuing a thread entirely for the point of hating the devs and new updates is also a useless endeavor. Yet here you are.
your both wrong
when new person buys minecraft (there likely a young kid) will get 1.8 and will think its the best thing ever because they never played any of the older versions think back to your first version (mine was beta 1.3) you would have thought that it was the best and would not know of the proplems in the past or the update of the moment.

i think we should all use common sense and logic when we answer and ask a question but always stay open minded
just cause science fails to explain something does not mean its real (afterlife, big foot, ghosts etc..) does not mean its fake try to stay opened mined instead of closed
If this is their first time using it they will think "Damn this lag sucks. I want my money back."
Not a good impression.
According to Jeb they got "millions" of new users with 1.7. How many will be turned away by this release?
did not think of that and really jeb millions of users with 1.7 well i guess there going to loss millions with this update

Emmm... Did you not say yourself that they update so players keep coming? If anything, this update will bring in hundreds of players for every couple that leave. If you honestly think that this update will hurt Minecraft's sales at all, then you're kidding yourself. What's REALLY going to happen, is that eventually the "I hate 1.8" movement will die down, just like all the other update hating movements, and people like you will wait until the next update to start hate on that. Rinse and Repeat.
1.8 is working fine for me exempt for this wierd skin bug that's on a couple of servers. Anyone that is Alex has the Alex skin and anyone who is Steve has the most warped skin Steve i have ever seen but besides that it's 100% fine for me

wrong and wrong and wrong again. i really hate to say this but those hate trains usually leave the game and lets all face it minecraft is not going to last for ever it will sad to see it die but it will happen and its updates like these that will cause the down fall there has just been too much hate for every update example back in beta and even early 1.1 1.2 official there was not a lot of hate for those updates (maybe beta 1.8 ok a lot of hate for that one) but the example is 1.6 1.7 and now 1.8 have been causing an outrage

Present factual evidence concerning the incorrect postulation that Minecraft sales have dropped down over the course of 1.5 - 1.7, only then will you be credible. Those updates received major formal and informal criticism, yet, Minecraft sales have thrived and will continue thriving until Mojang stops the development process for Minecraft.
Instead, the updates have presented exponential growth over the given time.

This basically. I am finding this whole thread to be completely irrelevant, since most of the people whining about 1.8 will die down within a few months. There will probably be something to hate in 1.9, and everyone will be outraged about that and "leave the game."
For the people complaining about lag and bugs, the last few 1.X.0 releases were pretty buggy too, but Mojang fixed it in 1-2 weeks. So just calm down, and hopefully we'll see a 1.8.1 soon.
As for the hate train argument, let me ask you this: What happened to #RedRoseArmy? Seen them around recently? No?
1.8 honestly didn't give that much, considering that it took a whole year. The most worthy thing I found out of the updates was the new ocean guardians, which were actually pretty neat. But a lot of the stuff like the armor stands or the commands, I really don't find much interest in; plus it isn't that great since it took a whole damn year.
How in the world are armor stands useful? Why the heck would you want to show off your armor? It doesn't make much sense to be, TBH. Seems like nothing but a pointless scarecrow or a closet. I know that in ancient times there were armor stands, but it just doesn't make sense in Minecraft.
Also I don't get these crap load of summon commands; don't see how they are useful either.
Other stuff they added:
- Granite, Andesite and Diorite stone blocks with smooth versions
- Slime Block
- Iron Trapdoor
- Prismarine and Sea Lantern blocks
- Ocean Monument
- Red Sandstone
- Banners
- Coarse Dirt
- Guardian mobs with item drops
- Endermite mob
- Rabbit with item drops
- Mutton and Cooked Mutton
- Spectator Game Mode
- New achievement
- Customized world type
- Hidden "Debug Mode" world type
- New commands
- New player model
- New options for configuration
^ Now this seems like a lot of stuff, but considering that it took a whole year.....I'm just really not impressed. Also, many of the features that Mojang implemented were taken from mods, such as armor stands. In fact, Mojang was actually going to get Optifine into the game but the creator of Optifine didn't allow it.
I really expected more, such as an overhaul to the terrain generator. I know that in the previous update there were many new biomes added, but I and many others for a few years wanted more variation and hilly terrain. And no, amplified just creates a mess that doesn't even make variance/sense. Or just something that would actually change Minecraft.
That is not even CLOSE to all of the stuff they added. You should update the OP so it's not lying. This isn't even half of it:
Why should have that taken a whole year? Most redstone updates are just quick, but never have I experienced something like these take a year.
The reason that this update took 9 months is that they rewrote a huge portion of the minecraft code in preparation for a plugin API. They had to reclass almost every item in the game and give it them all new ids. Then test like crazy to make sure that nothing broke from 1.7 to 1.8. This was a huge undertaking that went on behind the scenes but it will pay off big time in the next update as it will be much easier to add new things and for modders (in the long run) after the initial struggle of updating to the new system of 1.8.
This update changes a ridiculous amount of code behind the scenes. That's why it took so long and we will see the benefits of that in coming updates.

Yeah It Did Not take a year.
your the only person who has noticed this took way less then this "year" everyone is talking about
at least I know someone else can count
1.8 is a huge update. 1.8 rewrites Minecraft in such a way that it is ready for the plugin api. The api is close to being done and 1.8 is a massive update. Parts of the update were for specific groups. If Mojang incorporates parts of mods, fine. They technically own the mods since it is used for Minecraft and runs off of Minecraft because of the EULA, I have noticed that Trollsack doesn't come to the threads he creates, he just goes to other threads.
Trollsack just started a useless thread, I hope when he reads my post he locks this thread
If you have a bad old PC that lags in 1.8, it's not Mojang's fault, my PC is running 16 - 32 chunks nicely now
Even if trollsack did post here the thread would still be useless. These threads keep coming up for Every major update in Minecraft. The only way this thread is going to end is a lock, just like all the others.

Mojang will be able to see the exact answer to this question for themselves. Disappearing players or large numbers of players not updating is the only form of complaining that matters.
Silly little threads like this happen every update - they're meaningless.

? 1.8.0 "lag"/FPS problems? It's worse with 32 bit Java, use 64 bit Java.

They would sell you the release; however, with a free optional update presented by Mojang.
