My average play session lasts for 3-4 hours, which is largely dependent on how long it takes for me to explore the current cave system or mineshafts, up to a point I play longer if it takes longer to explore something; and how often I have to return to empty out my Ender chest (I tend to stop playing after returning to my base). Sometimes it is because I noticed that I've gotten a lot of something (in my "inventory stats", which shows the number of ores and other blocks mined and mobs killed) and try to set a new personal record (the fact that I try to mine around 3000 ore in a session also has an influence but the average play session length in my first world has not changed much in several years).
Otherwise, "boredom" is not a limiting factor in any way; I stopped playing my most recent world because I'd completed my goal of exploring at least one of every type of cave, which took about 22 days of playtime, with the time spent in these worlds generally being around 2 weeks (based on the in-game time played stat, not calendar days). I've spent nearly 109 days playing on my first world, on and off over more than four years (I only play on one world at a time, not because I take breaks from the game, which I play nearly every single day, and work on a mod when i don't), and still do not have any urges to start a new main world; indeed, it just recently became the only world that I've ever had where I found every single biome (in vanilla 1.6.4; I do not expect to ever find every single biome in my modded worlds, and have not even when considering all 4 worlds put together, and even more so if I ever played in 1.7+ (even an "all biomes within 2000 blocks" seed requires exploring nearly as much as I have in my first world, which is a lot when you only explore by exploring the underground).
I never get really bored while actually playing the game; It's more so I have these days where I just don't feel like playing mine craft unless It's on a server with a few friends on Voice chat.
TheMasterCaver plays on 1.6 so no shulker boxes unless he adds them to a future version of his mod
Ender chests can already store a lot of resources (up to 15,552) if you craft them into blocks; I even occasionally set up banks of furnaces to smelt iron and gold ore (in a secure location which I can easily remember, or on the way back from the area I explore while they smelt) so I can turn them into blocks (9 stacks = 1 stack of blocks); depending on what else I find I can fill up about half my Ender chest with mineral blocks, equivalent to around two play sessions (only 3 slots are reserved for an anvil, crafting table, and furnaces).
When combined with my inventory I can carry up to 63 stacks back to my main base at a time (from a secondary base), which is about a weeks worth of playing; I did add a special double chest sized Ender chest (in addition to normal Ender chests, so 3 chests of space) in my mod but I don't see it as necessary, even in my first world, where I've made bases more than twice as far away as in any modded world (I only use it to take more back to my main base at once; since there are more things that I collect it partially offsets the additional space; likewise, I did not even use an Ender chest prior to 1.6 since I did not collect more coal than I used or things like rails and moss stone).
Unless I'm really engaged in some great custom map or modpack, thirty minutes to an hour. I have a really short attention span and have been playing this game for over five years.

Let me know if my posts are helpful or if you like them. That's what I'm here for.
I am currently lurking more than I am posting. I haven't gone anywhere.
I can go for 1-3 hours in up to 3 sessions a day. I think the most I ever played in one day was about 7-8 hours but that's really pushing it. I often start very large ambitious builds which take a long time to complete, for example right now I'm working on a palace that's >100 x >100 blocks and three stories tall. I like to start and finish a project ASAP and move on to the next one only when I've finished my current one.
For me, it's 1-2 hours.

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?

Edgy lad

I don't get bored, but I do get tired. It's usually when I've been doing the same thing for several hours. Repetitive builds and the like.

Just curious, that's all.
I only get bored when I play vanilla, because vanilla is just SOOOO empty to me.
