I've been looking around and noticing a lot of new and old players whining about how the community has gone downhill in terms of quality.
Not to mention we get constant rips on how our community/game is trash...
BUT! This can be undone!
Take a look at the videos you and others post (if any) and compare them to the videos made in 2009-2012, you will notice the difference.
If you take a look back, you can tell that nobody really cared about ad revenue in their YouTube videos.
"What does this have to do with the community itself" you might be asking.
Get with the picture: If it wasn't for youtube/word of mouth, minecraft wouldn't be a thing,
We can reverse engineer what we did to ourselves by going back in time! Doing things the old ways!
This is a call to action; i'm asking everyone who reads this to get your favorite copy of minecraft with some screen recording software/hardware and start doing simple videos like a cool little rollercoaster you made, or maybe a simple piston house, or maybe how you used lava to make a big lighting system.
Trolls and critics, I didn't forget about you; if you have something to say, make sure its constructive, give the new players tips, maybe they could use some extra knowledge.
This PSA is a very constructive way we can all repair what the community has devolved into.
This kinda already is done. Many newer Youtubers that start out with Minecraft make small videos. They play a bit of servers, build something, do a lets play, etc. Those kinds of videos are generally low quality compared to the huge youtubers now and days and just get ignored. If it were that easy, I wouldn't be able to count the amount of notable big Minecraft youtubers with my fingers.
There are many problems with the community. Not just Youtubers trying to milk out ad revenue. Minecraft has a fan base, most of it is toxic. Pretty much any game that goes huge grows Toxic. Just look at the Undertale fandom or try playing Team Fortress 2 without getting flamed two minutes in. People are willing to go as far as to harassing people just to get what they want. People don't really care about the community, they just want some sickly quick enjoyment. Which usually leads to trolling, flaming, etc.
There's no real way to stop this, and making a PSA is the equivalent of telling a bully to stop being mean. Simply saying stop really isn't going to do anything. There has to be some force behind that stop. This is why we have officers sent out to protect. People are going to do horrible things to serve their own satisfaction, they're not going to stop just because you asked politely. We need something to actually push them to stop. Of course, having Mojang try and protect every single user in their fanbase just really isn't possible. Even if all of Microsoft were to call it quits on their jobs and moderated all the players, it still wouldn't be enough to stop anything.
It will never be enough.
The best thing we can do is to avoid the toxic areas of the community. I personally avoid all Minecraft videos because I've lost any entertainment I've ever gotten out of them (With the exception of watching a few hot shots every now and then and getting a bit of humor out of that, not exactly helping, but at least I keep it to myself)
Personally, I find these forums to be one of the better communities for this game. Reddit Minecraft is alright, too when people aren't spamming it with memes someone made up and trying to reek in Reddit points. Let the bad part of the community run on its own, it won't miss you and you won't miss it.
Hmm, you might just be right, the problem is though, the simple minecraft players are incredibly overshadowed by much more high profile ones, I remember calling back to a time when every minecraft player had their 15 minutes in the spotlight. Nowadays, it seems like everyone's called it quits and just lurks around on the forums or reddit...
Its not that the community is dying, but it is segregating.
Even fellow minecraft players are attacking each other about how they play the game.
We need to change to a system where everyone has an equal chance on saying what they have to say.
But yes, as i'm looking around at the stake of our community, we might just have to wait until a miracle...
Just wish we could put a dampener on the rather loud stigma of the "autistic minecraft kid"

Play the game for you, not the viewers!
The community is heavily populated by kids who don't understand that their opinions aren't facts, and who've watched too many movies so they think some dramatic, definitive statement is how you "win" a conversation.
No community with participants like that can be fixed.

The biggest problem with that is nothing is new anymore. What might of been an interesting idea before has been done 182 times today. The Minecraft audience was also older, and Youtubers younger than ~14-15 were rare. Now and days everything is so accessible that 12 new Youtubers come out daily. Quality has lowered and quantity has taken over.
A perfect world seems nice, but sadly the reality is that even simple things as having a nice, large community is near-impossible.
Agree, I came across this guy who gave me his youtube channel and I looked at it and it's literally a 10 year old. He was hacking and recording so I wanted to see the video.

I think that's an understatement.
There's 138 million Minecraft Youtubes out there.
5.8 million "tutorials". (Heck, there's 142 thousand "mob tower tutorials" alone!)
4.8 million "let's plays".
11.5 million "animations".
I agree with the OP, quality has suffered. Everybody seems to think that they can make a name for themselves on Youtube. Their goal seems to be to see how many Likes they can get (sheesh, quit begging for them!), and the assumption that they can make money from ads.
But, I also think the last thing we need is another MC video. It's all been done- many, many times over. (In fact, there's already 730 thousand "roller coaster" videos.)

Thank you.
Any insights might I ask?
