It's down for me too. It's funny though, 'cause at midnight, I was able to connect, but when I tried around 9:30-ish this morning, not a chance... I take it that someone out there is having fun doing this to us?

Ever wanted to play Minecraft on your own difficulty? I did too, and now I'm getting better by practicing at my own pace!
How do you know it was a ddos attack that took down the servers last time?
Are you serious? You can't be serious. I mean...did you miss the 10 million posts/threads/articles about Minecraft being DDOS'd? ^^
And once again, no response from Mojang/Microsoft. Boy it would sure be nice if they just reassured their users, hey we're working on it...or something...anything...instead of letting the entire game be DDOS'd the exact same way two weeks in a row and it seeming like they're taking a "Meh...ride it out." approach.
Btw, the auth. servers are back up. Or at least there's a break in the DDOS.

There is no proof that mojang got ddosed. Like I said before anyone can say they took down the servers.
Also mojang did say they were working on the issue.

You're right. Anyone can claim they took down the servers. In this case though, the group in question gave a five minute warning before the servers went down, announcing they were going to take down the auth. servers and lo and behold five minutes later...they're down. And then they announce the servers are going to go back up in a few minutes. And a few minutes later they're back up.
So either, they were DDOS'd by a known DDOS group or an actual employee at Mojangrosoft has hijacked the twitter account of a known DDOSer and is screwing with everyone. Which do you think is more likely?
As far as what Mojang says, all the official twitter ever says is "they are aware of issues." The Minecraft devs themselves have publicly acknowledged being DDOS'd several times.
Not working for me. I don't understand their thinking. If you have logged in successfully in the past with your computer and a server you shouldn't have to be authenticated again to join that server (there should be an encrypted key stored in both locations unique to your account).
Interesting concept, I wonder if it would work. Throw up a thread in the Suggestions section.
uhh idk what to write the title kind of said it all
I Know exactly What to Say;
ARE YOU FREAKN KIDDING ME !?!?!
Phew I Think it Was Just A Glitch Their back Up
The mojang's server(s) are down. No one, expect mojang, know why they are down or when they will be back up.
Multiplayer session authentication is still down for me. Is this another DDOS? Anyone bragging about it?
There was a post about "Hoic Squad" or something for a short minute, but it got deleted quickly.
I just logged back on successfully, so hopefully others will have the same luck.
Guys Just Restart your Game Its Fine Now
No No One Is Bragging They Were Just Down For A Fix
there getting the servers ready for 1.9
Can you give us some proof?
its eather that or hacjers agin
How do you know it was a ddos attack that took down the servers last time? Also DDOS is not a hack.
idk but you never know

Actually, a "hacker" group is taking responsibility.
Yes, it is a DDOS.
It is not Hoic Squad. It's a different group, with a different mom's credit card renting another botnet and pretending to be Neo from the Matrix.
Yes, there is a group claiming responsibility for it.

There's no need to be pointlessly argumentative.
