Ok, so I'm wondering how they work, a little backstory if you don't mind.
I am playing singleplayer, and I get kind of tired of working on a certain building and I decide to open LAN so that I can enable cheats and go creative mode. After I was done I went back to my business as playing legit, and nothing happened for the duration of the session, and I log off.
Later I log back in, and my whole place is trashed. Stuff is on fire... water from my pool EVERYWHERE.. floors missing (chests untouched tho). I'm the only one at my house who plays minecraft... and I thought you had to be on the same internet connection, or at least have the person's IP Address. And on top of it I never saw anyone join, is it possible they joined even after I closed the game?
I hate people who skip over to creative mode to build stuff in the middle of a survival world. That's the point of survival, for God's sake! To be challenged to find the resources to build things. Why don't you go ahead and just spawn a double chest of diamonds while your at it, hey? If you can't restrain yourself, why don't you just lock the difficulty?

Maybe someone went onto your computer and meddled around?
Some random person from a random place wont be able to join.
Sadly not to likely, I've been on my computer the whole time. I wasn't away for that long. very weird... I'd say it had something to do with the fact that I had to forcibly close minecraft, but nothing else in the world is quite screwed up as my house. Hmmmm...

Chill nerd. I was building an underground portion of my fortress and didn't feel like mining it all out and taking 5 years to do it.

Thanks for clearing this up, though.
