Regardless of cheating or not, flying is very bad. Flyers can travel fast and make the game have to quickly load more and more new chunks. This can bog down and lag the whole entire server for everyone in Vanilla minecraft. That's just a no-no. It's selfish and generally not cool.
Why would anyone WANT to cheat? It's more fun when everyone plays as the game or map was intended.

Ever mined for miles, and not a single ore? I was that guy that would mine for 2 days straight, and barely get a stack of iron.

If you were mining for iron outside of a cave, that's your fault. Iron is extremely common in caves, but is very uncommon and often rare while doing casual "diamond mining". You should use your knowledge as an advantage.
ex: "I know that diamonds spawn from X layer to Y layer, and are most common on X layer, so I'll mine on the X layer." Or: "Emeralds spawn commonly in the walls of ravines in extreme hills biomes. So I should be specifically looking for ravines in extreme hills biomes."
On Topic. Cheating is highly frowned upon, unless you do it in single player where it affects no one. Saying: "I was only benefiting myself, not hurting others.", is a huge lie. You may be X-raying far away from spawn, but anyone who travels that far (most intelligent people do to avoid people such as yourself) will find the land lacking the specific, elusive, light-blue ore. Diamonds aren't a renewable resource, even through villager trading. You can trade for diamond armor, weapons and tools, but those only. What if I want to make a juke box or an enchantment table? Well I can't because you've absorbed all of the diamonds into your greedy pockets.
Ah flying. Another cheat/hack. It's mostly unfair in a pvp environment, where you can strike at opponents and swiftly get away without taking damage. In non-pvp servers it's also a huge problem. As stated above, flying users often use flight as a way to travel a great distance swiftly, loading chunks faster than the server can process, causing extreme lag and often crashes for all users. Also, most fly hacks have a built-in anti-fall damage hack, making their ability without risk.
All in all hacking and cheating is still hacking and cheating, and is wrong and unfair for everyone, except for you it seems.

I don't go and spawn in a server, cheat my way inside a few dungeons, and mine EVERY single gold, emerald, or diamond ore. You are wrong, if you have ever used this you would not be so dim that you would mine all the ores, when everyone is online, and when there is possibly staff on. It doesn't hurt anyone, it just makes them angry that people such as I can grab a diamond for a new chestplate when they spend hours mining and not finding a single ore. I am exaggerating, don't take that seriously, fly hacks are unfair if you use it a lot, and in PvP, XRay hacks are unfair if used to grief or raid. You know, a lot of people aren't gonna find some house and build next to it, I understand if you are in a town, taking all the ores, but someone isn't gonna mine a whole stack of diamonds, and putting all of it in his chest. Only a very greedy, or a very uncaring person would do that. And lastly, when I say things like "I am that guy that mines for 2 days straight and barely gets a stack of iron" I exaggerate. There, constructive criticism.
Thank you for your opinion, I would understand why you'd think that.

Yet you are still getting a unfair advantage, Most people tend to dislike when their hard work is under cut by someone doing it faster and better because of said advantage. And don't be daft, THERE IS ALWAYS the possibility that someone may settle there and need the resources.

I would share my diamonds then, I'm not the person that would be hog-gobbling, I mentioned that a lot, I wouldn't give players a disadvantage, many people say that it is okay if you use hacking in singleplayer, yet they say it gives an unfair advantage in multiplayer. What about those people in singleplayer that mine and mine? Sure there's no player taking a few ores using cheats, but there is those that use it in singleplayer. They have an unfair advantage. Or what about that miner that mines and mines and mines, until he can't mine anymore? Comparing him to the XRayer, the miner would probably have the same exact amount of ores as the XRayer, sure that miner had put lots of time and effort for them. But they both would take all the ores from the other players. And there's tons of ores out there, it's not like if the hard working player mines for about an hour, he would find only cobblestone. Even a hacker wouldn't take every single ore in the chunk. That's my opinion. Yours?

It is worth noting that ores are no more common in the walls of caves/ravines than anywhere else, it is just the sheer surface area exposed, especially compared to a 1x2 tunnel, which exposes only 6 blocks (8 if you count the ones you mine away, which also does give you ore, unlike caves which are "pre-mined") for every block forward, and you can quickly cover a much larger area in a cave. The Wiki even claims (since Beta 1.2) that ores are more common in caves but there is just no evidence in the code that this is the case (the Wiki actually has quite a bit of incorrect information; for example, they also claim that Extreme Hills has more caves than any other biome, which is only true if you count caves (with only coal) above sea level, otherwise cave generation only depends on the world seed, even the world type has no effect).
That said, as far as caving is concerned my playstyle pretty much means you won't find any ores by caving for thousands of blocks around my base... which is one of the nice things about singleplayer (I don't use most of the resources I mine either, I just go caving for fun; that said, I only mine several percent of all ore in the area I cover so there is plenty left that can be found by normal mining, plus caves that aren't connected to anything else or to the surface aren't explored since I don't try to find them; the changes to cave generation in 1.7 means many more caves like this; then again, I wouldn't play on a server with 1.7+ cave generation).
I would share my diamonds then, I'm not the person that would be hog-gobbling, I mentioned that a lot, I wouldn't give players a disadvantage, many people say that it is okay if you use hacking in singleplayer, yet they say it gives an unfair advantage in multiplayer. Many people don't want to handle ill gotten goods. And in alot of servers taking items from a cheater is a offense just slightly under or just as bad as cheating yourself. The reason it does not give a unfair advantage to you in single player is in single players name, It is just you. There is no one else to mine the ores, Delve the dungeons, Brave the wilderness... But on multiplayer there is and people have no right to have a unfair advantage unless they are someone like a admin using creative to build a spawn for the server or having the power to ban griefers and hackers.
The difference between the miner and the x-rayer is this. Effort and time. E.G two 200 by 200 area with the exact same ores placed in the exact same places mined separately. The x-rayer would always use less effort as he could go straight to the ores faster and in less time. The miner would actually have to build a strip mine or branch mine to check the same area for the exact ammount of ores that the x-rayer got, But going through much more time and much more effort to do so. (Also damaging his tools more) The miner is more entitled to the ores because he actually worked for them like most other players. And to answer your statement about hackers not taking all the ore, some actually do. Or at the very least take all the diamonds and Some take most of the gold and iron as well.

Yes I know. I Merely felt the need to reiterate the fact as why someone who does something in a rather large amount of time With quite a large amount of effort would hate or dislike someone who cheated to get the same result (At least to me) seems rather obvious.
My apologies if I come across as rude or mad, i am not but due to how I type I sometimes seem so due to how people tend to read text. A better example would be this think in real life you just studied a test, You studied for days even stay up multiple nights. You turn the test in and get a A, However someone near you got a A+ you find out that this person cheated to get the answers and did not get caught. You spent all that time and effort just to be showed up by someone who cheated and got a better result more easily.

Well, of course it's unfair, and of course the person would be angry at hackers. There's people that are tired of hard working, and want an extra diamond or two, then there's someone who wants op, power, and want to rule a server. And of course someone would be mad if there was someone had an unfair advantage over them, but you know, XRay is always available.

Most people don't want to download x-ray hacks as they wish to play legit, And they get rather mad when they and most others are on a server playing legit and someone comes and decides to play unfairly the legit players have a right and a reason to be mad.

I shall as well It is almost midnight my time and I should most likely sleep, In either case thank you for the discussion. I always like a good peaceful debate. They are so hard to find on forums. (Well besides political forums but I aint touching that with a blast shield and a stick twenty feet long.) You have a good day/night/evening/Whatevertimeitisforyou.
The question was not whether it's right or wrong to use them. We're not exactly here for your justifications on why you did or do use them. The question is why people hate X-Rayers and Fly users. For the most part, this has already been answered. I'll attempt to make it a bit clearer in my post, anyways.
The answer is quite simply that both of those things are, in most cases, against the rules on servers. These rules are meant to be followed, regardless of how you personally feel about them. If you feel against those rules, you must speak to the server owners and come to an agreement. If you cannot, then you're to follow the rules specified by them. As Akynth has stated, in singleplayer, you're the one who makes the rules. Otherwise, unless you're the owner of the server in question, you're in violation.
It's not uncommon nor unreasonable for those who adhere to the rules to harbor ill feelings to those who are in clear violation of that which holds the server together. Rules are something people often look for in servers. They're one of the major deciding factors of whether or not you even bother joining or attempting to be whitelisted for a server. A great many players wish to play the game fairly, and join servers which keep identical or similar views of fairness.
All of this in mind, it should be quite obvious why others would be upset or dislike you for breaking those rules. In their eyes, you bring chaos into an environment in which they expected order and balance. You give yourself an advantage that most regular users to that server have already determined to be unfair. They expect you to have to go through the same amount of effort in acquiring materials or traveling to places as they do.
Does this mean you're a bad person? Of course not. However, you don't need to be a bad person to be disliked for breaking the rules. Imagine inviting someone over to your house and them not following the rules you've very clearly defined, or the ones of common decency that are often implied. You wouldn't be happy with them. You might even kick them out. Even worse if this is your first dealing with them, as it's all you'll really need to decide whether or not you want them to come back at a later date.
I hope this clears things up.

While I understand the perplexity with some people hating this more than actual griefers (no figuring out some people's thought processes), it is in fact cheating.
Now, I don't particularly have anything against cheating per se -it's just a tool and how it's used is far more important than what it is- I believe that if you want to fly and/or X-ray, you should do it in single player, or if you really want to play with other people, on a server that allows it. Those are probably rare, but out of the hundreds of thousands of minecraft servers out there, there must be SOME that allow those things. If not, it's really not that hard to set up a server yourself, even if it's only hosted on your own PC, and limited to a handful of other players.
Flying and X-Raying on a server that doesn't allow it gives you an unfair advantage over those who actually follow the rules, and there's really no way to excuse it away.
Because flying and xraying is cheating. In a single player environment no one cares do whatever you want, but on multiplayer PVP servers it gives you an unfair advantage over other people that don't hack. Your friend was right to ban you.

To those of you suggesting new uses for Emeralds in the suggestions forum: Emeralds have enough uses. You can trade with villagers to get diamond armor/tools/weapons and enchants. Stop suggesting that Emeralds are useless, and learn to play Minecraft. Thanks.

You admitted you hacked, and this is what it is doing, gaining unauthorized access if they were okay with that, they would authorize you, which they obviously did not.

Also take a look at this guide if you are requesting builders for a server/project.
Please note, if I deny a suggestion because it is already possible, then I mean it is already possible withing 10 command blocks (That do not spawn other command blocks) or up to 5 creations (Command blocks that spawn other command blocks) to make your suggestion.
If I critique your suggestion I am not hating on you. Learn the difference.

Alright man, you got that from South Park. A nice debate with you,
A God that holds you over the pit of Hell, much as one holds a spider or some loathsome insect over the fire, abhors you, and is dreadfully provoked. - Jonathan Edwards
Flying and X-Raying on a server that doesn't allow it gives you an unfair advantage over those who actually follow the rules, and there's really no way to excuse it away.
use a computer to gain unauthorized access to data in a system.
"they hacked into a bank's computer"
gain unauthorized access to (data in a computer).
"hacking private information from computers"
You admitted you hacked, and this is what it is doing, gaining unauthorized access if they were okay with that, they would authorize you, which they obviously did not.
Also take a look at this guide if you are requesting builders for a server/project.
Please note, if I deny a suggestion because it is already possible, then I mean it is already possible withing 10 command blocks (That do not spawn other command blocks) or up to 5 creations (Command blocks that spawn other command blocks) to make your suggestion.
If I critique your suggestion I am not hating on you. Learn the difference.
