Thanks, I have a far larger (and far more involved) Minecraft project 90% done, but I have to wait a little to see what the Microsoft event suggests before I release it. This isn't so much due to it being Microsoft, but more the general direction of the program as this next project to release is community based.
This one however was done and I figured, meh, toss out some fun news
There are lots of software tools out there which do this, most of them for free. If you want your own it'd really depend on what features / controls you want along with what environment you want it to run in, then you'd have a few applications to choose from. I'd never have guessed it if I hadn't gone playing with a few of them over the years.
If you want to make one of your own, it's best to research the ones out there, picking one with the features / controls you want is a very good way to start at it to save time and headaches in the long run.
This is kind of neat, although it is weird for it to have a Minecraft theme lol.

Thanks, alone it is kinda left field, but I kinda need one for the other project that I am finishing up. It's address is a little long, so this helps with it's social media links. Rather than hog the thing for myself I figured, meh, make it public.
I'm looking into API options to let people auto-post from their own blogs. Not 100% sure on that however.
Good style. How did you modify yourls to look like that?

Thanks, at work so I don't have access to it all, but most of the style is in the index file at the root, there's a CSS folder with your style file that does most of the rest.
Looked into the random backgound plugin but need to make some backgrounds (hopefully tonight) but tested the plugin and it works like a charm.
Also, note the config file, it's got lots of add-on commands you can add (note that most are not listed in it by default so google that bit heavily).
Glad to answer questions and help others on it, setup a few of these.

Ah, makes sense. Also good luck on your new project, I'll be waiting for it to come out!

Do you know HTML, CSS, PHP? If so it won't be too hard to navigate the files and pull together a fairly nice setup. Like anything being released to the public you will have to look into what types and levels of public access / security / ect which you need. A good bit of daily upkeep (through the admin tools that are built in from default) can also help greatly improve your long term goals and knowledge of .htaccess (or similar restrictive tools) would be a great knowledge.
Other than that, for a developer, the platform is surprisingly admin-friendly. I am partner with a domain / web hosting outfit which mainly does very specific web solutions for very specific clients, so I do lots of work on the web.
Not expecting you to do it: But maybe you could add an option so every website you shorten will have a Minecraft theme.
I don't think that would be possible without proxying each website through his link shortener, which would take up a ton of bandwidth on his side, as well as make it slower for you. Plus, modifying each website to have a Minecraft theme would never prove consistent, as many websites are designed in different ways. If that's not enough, many websites, including Mojang's, have clauses in their TOS that prohibit modifying their websites. So, unfortunately, that's probably not going to happen.

Actually the /4v is a string that is part of the shortener. Another way to say that is had you typed in google.com, it could have potentially returned mcraft.link/4v.
When you visit mcraft.link/4v in your browser, it goes to mcraft.link as it should. All is well it appears, unless I didn't understand.

Btw, have you ever thought of open sourcing this?
I'll post about it here for sure, will try to message you also It's a bit of a yelp / yellowpages / wiki / mix, just for Minecraft.

The next web project that is mostly done is hairy enough to maintain while still being fun..
