Notch... the man who doesn't make any sense; why you ask? Notch is an indie game developer, but he is special. Notch doesn't want mainstream success or to be big in the gaming industry. His recent game 0x10c was indefinitely postponed due to the fear of it being too hyped up. And I totally agree with him there, but not in the way you may be thinking, and Notch if you're reading this not in the way you're thinking either. Why make the game if you don't want anyone to play it, to enjoy it, to have fun with it? That's the dream of an indie developer, to have people enjoying your games, talk to their friends about your games, and give you great feedback on your ga- oh, I see what it is. Notch is afraid of feedback. Notch is controlled by the fear.
You may be thinking, Paulie you're crazy! But nope, let me give you some facts. Back in 2011, before the first Minecon and the official release of minecraft, Notch claimed that he was afraid to call Minecraft a full release in fear of bad reviews. I'm going to assume that he canceled production of 0x10c for the same reason. So for a while now he's been hiding making little things in the doom engine. But in June and into July, what months were those, aha, feedback months; to be more precise negative feedback months. The months where big server companies such as Mineplex and Hypixel (which were complete scams into spending your money on microtransactions) were debated on their existence by mojang. Mojang changed the ELUA (End user licence agreement) to strictly enforce that servers may not sell gameplay features or any modifications. This killed any hope for small servers and made the community collapse in on itself, and the worst part is, there is NO way to fix this problem. If they allow it people abuse it, and if they don't allow it the small communities die. They chose the latter of the choices and this made people boycott it, made people hate mojang. And all of the sudden this falls down on Notch, because it's his game, oh but Notch hasn't worked on the project since 2011? No casual gamer knows that! There's KIDS on this platform. There's people who JUST joined the community, and what do they know? Some guy called Notch made minecraft, so they give feedback to him. So that was a big thing.
But wait, we're not done. Bukkit developer Wesley Wolfe decides he doesn't like Spigot for forking bukkit and decides to DMCA them. A fair amount of other projects were killed by this too, such as Cauldron. (A forge/bukkit server) (Also known as MCPC+) But wait, what does this have to do with Mojang and Notch? Mojang owns Bukkit. People were furious over this and where did they turn to complain? Mojang, and who "owns" the game to the casual eye? Notch.
At this point Notch's twitter feed was crazily filled with angry feedback, with stuff he couldn't fix. This dropped him down to the level where he decided he was done with Minecraft, done with feedback, and DONE with the community. He then agreed with other members of mojang to sell Minecraft to Microsoft for $2,500,000,000. Was it for the money, no. Am I done yet? No. I think Notch should leave the gaming industry forever. Is he bad at making games, no. But what you are bad at Mr. Notch, is communities. What happens when someone likes your idea and expands it? Anger and hatred forms secretly in the background, it grows over time and spreads more and more as people see change. You seem to not like feedback on your games, which is something that you must see in your future for being an indie developer. So until you can accept feedback, I suggest you leave the gaming industry, get a new hobby, maybe cars?
I agree with the 2nd comment. Notch doesn't feel comfortable being so popular, being in the eye of the public all the time, being criticized for everything you do to your games and he deserves to be able to be a more private game developer.
Notch has the right to do what he wants to and if he feels he should sell the game, it's his decision and we should respect that.

I never said he didn't have the right to sell the game, did you not read my post at all? I'm saying if he doesn't like what comes with the gaming industry he should get out of it.

Yes I know what you said but I just felt the need to say that. As much as you may be right about the fact that the gaming industry has things that come with it which you must accept, gaming developers can still make games but not be subject to fame.

Paragraphs.
Don't blame him really, this community is pretty toxic, at least the vocal ones. Not that its any different in any other type of community. The vocal minority is always louder then the majority.

Thanks for making such a great game. 2 billion dollars is a lot of money, and anybody would do the same. Congratulations!

I had no intention of sounding like an idiot.

"Changed the EULA to strictly enforce", I should have said that better
