I was wondering if I'm the only one who never really had a definite aim on minecraft other than building in creative, exploring different seeds, and messing around with different mods.
Yup, that's pretty much all I've been doing for over a year since I got minecraft. I think it's about time that I actually "play" the game the whole way through.... haha... and without cheating of course.
I was looking over things in the wiki that I don't know much about and I thought to myself "wow, I'm really missing out, I haven't even been to a nether fortress before". Sad, but true.
I have never defeated the ender dragon in pure survival before and I have been playing for 2+ years. The closest I ever gotten was going to the nether but I always die in lava and rage quit.

Cool, I'm glad I'm not the only one
It's not until recently that I decided I should learn about everything in the game and how to get it in pure survival.
It's no wonder why I'd be completely clueless about what to do next after finding diamonds. Then I'd get bored and try other things (other than actually playing through the rest of the game).
It's sort of weird how I know more about other mods than vanilla. I literally just learned about where you find emeralds last week because quite frankly, I was never interested in looking for them.

Even when I was playing vanilla I never found a use for Emeralds other than for trading villagers (which I rarely did anyway). It wasn't until mods (Minecraft Comes Alive) where I started looking for them (and got most through trading). On top of that they're harder to find than Diamond as they only exist in one Biome in smaller veins.

I play through the game very often, usually on hardcore mode. usually takes me a few days to get to the end, and id have fought the wither at least once by the end of the first week. and a few days after fighting my first wither to make a complete beacon, and this is only playing 1-4 hours each day. but i kinda have the game down to specific math equations and such, so hardcore mode is child's play to me now (i wish they would make it harder in vanilla, so that i don't have to use mods...) i definately think it's worth it to play the game fully through, even if its just once, as the satisfaction of winning is so great, and makes you feel awesome >:3
Edit: oh, i should also mention that i have been playing since back in alpha, #BeaterForLife
Haven't even been to the End yet even though I have a functioning End-portal in one of my worlds, I got sidetracked trying to find the other two strongholds for some reason and now I'm not quite sure which world it was in or if it was even on this computor. Though the old computor is right next to this one so I really should copy over my old worlds and bookmarks and things.
I only defeated the Enderdragon in Survival when I cheated my stuff in and went into the End. I only did it to see what it was like to fight it. So basically I've never done it legit.

I've beaten the Ender Dragon before. But I've always done it by going into creative mode, finding the portal, getting all the armor and weapons, and then fighting it in Survival Mode. So I basically never done it legit.

Been playing (off and on) since 1.2.5. Have never been to the end nor have I accumulated any heads with which to build (and fight) the Wither. I have a hard time sticking with one world long enough to accumulate enough diamonds to where I stop looking at them as a treasure and start using them for more than a pick axe.
I'm glad the "quests" aren't required to be completed to enjoy the game to it's fullest.

I was a bit hesitant to mention that I also don't stick to one world either, but the I also tend to delete them as soon as I got bored playing in it. I sort of wish I had saved the worlds I played in, but then again, I probably would have so many worlds saved in my computer by now.
I guess the fact that you don't have to complete all the achievements in the game is what makes the game the most appealing. You can do virtually whatever you want in the game (and not to mention it's also be modified by someone who can do java).

i never deletemy worlds, (always just been too lazy) so I've got about 150+ now... hehe.
And i can also agree with how we don't HAVE to complete the achievements to win, but me being as i am, would never dare to miss a single one in any of my playthroughs :3

On PC, I think I focused mostly on Multiplayer, having singleplayer-ed the enderdragon 2 times in pure survival.
I only play on hard mode
