I notice in the change log for TU31 that it says: "Most mobs can now swim." Does this mean they can now swim against a current? Does that now break the popular "water channel" mob drop trap and other flowing water live mob transport systems along with any of the common drowning traps?
We will have to see. My slime farm relies on it but I do know that villagers die in that trap and they can swim.
I was just wondering if someone who also plays on the PC might be able to say whether this change when it hit on PC (1.8?) broke those sorts of traps and what adaptations they might have made to the designs to keep them working... or whether they basically just tore them down and started over.

I don't play PC but I'm pretty sure 1.8 broke drowning traps. Water currents will still push mobs so I imagine you can use a current to hold mobs underwater.
If not, you can use a cactus trap that will kill them, but you will lose some of your drops if they land on the cactus.
I think "swimming" might mean they rise to the surface. So mobs like the iron golem and slimes that currently sink might not anymore when the update hits. I'm just speculating... I don't really know.

Yeah, it kind of has mean confused since, IMO, most mobs can already "swim" in still water (e.g skeletons, creepers, spiders, pigs, sheep, etc.) Golems and slimes are about the only two I can think of that can't. If this means that mobs can now "swim" against a current, then that would break just about every water driven mob system out there (e.g. most golem farms... not just drowning traps)... and would mean the systems would have to be adapted somehow (or just scrapped entirely).

Golems still won't swim. I think it has more to do with slimes. Remember, villagers can swim, and they still get pushed by water streams and they die in a drowing traps.

I think we can still get something to work.
That's a relief to here about golems still getting pushed by water after 1.8. Thanks.
