I doubt they'll count adding one thing as title update. They aren't calling the next update TU17, just a small update.
Funny the things I would love to see, at least some of them, are finally coming out on the pc edition.
Hoppers/droppers, leads, hay bales... coal and redstone blocks. Name tags.
Colored wood items, like fences N gates, doors, trap doors, etc...
like the person above me, I would love to see stained clay blocks, however that is only if they find a way where we could obtain them en-mass. Otherwise they would not be much a useful aesthetic, since there is only so much clay in the world...

They made glowstone renewable becauses of lack of glowstone clusters , maybe they'll do the same with clay ?
One could only hope. It is more of a matter of how they go about doing so.
glowstone I was glad to see blazes drop the item bits when they did, and think it is a feasible way as it makes sense. Don't know if a mob dropping them would be the most preferred way since, what would drop clay. maybe clay golems as a new mob. I don't really know, but as long as there is some reasonable feasible way, then it would be ok.

Why not make slimes drop clay balls as a drop. It woukd be kind of thematic as soon as slimes start spawning in swamps.
I was thinking, yes slime spawning in swamps would be nice and all yeah I want that. But why not has squid drop clay balls? Since the squid live in the water and clay is mostly found in water, it can make some nice squid farms.
honestly, the main thing i want is horses and hoppers. hoppers canbe used to burn all that 64+ iron you have so you dont need to keep loading. and the horses would be so useful for machinimas, traveling, changing base areas, and just looking completely awesome 😄

Although in theory that sounds good, if not to make a squid farm, that really to me doesn't make sense. Even if they live in water doesn't mean they would scoop up clay. Usually it is shallow waters that clay would appear in. Squid usually are in deep water anyhow. Still an interesting idea.
Think slimes dropping it makes most sense, as they hop around in shallows, and their body is sticky enough to pick up vaious things over time. Gives a slime more use than a pet or pistons.

That would be a decent alternative. I could go for that. Either way would be fine; slime drop or craftable. As long as there is some way to make it renewable to a degree within reason of course.

Why can't we just add the fishing update and add in the ability to fish clay out of the water? Makes about as much sense as fishing a perfectly preserved book from the water.

Well the book does make sense when it is enchanted. Magic is wonderous. Something else I wouldn't mind seeing in the game is the fishing mechanic.
Not sure of the clay from fishing though. I don't mind fishing up lily pads, as that somewhat makes sense; caught tangles on line/hook. Pulling up full blocks makes even less sense, but this is minecraft after all; where a lot of things hardly make sense throughout the game if compared to RL. That is something I hardly do, but at the same time keep it minimal. Minecraft is minecraft a different universe that has its' own set of rules.
Anyway I'll just say thank you for reminding me of that mechanic, as that is something else I really wanted to see eventually.:)

Mewtwo is the best pokemon!
Well was an idea. After all we have 2 types of golems already... but yes a mob drop is a tricky thing to mess with. Unsure myself on that one.
That sort of makes sense, although I wonder what the ratio between slimeballs & clay would be for drops.

Not completely renewable but better than nothing.
