1.2.2 version is a minor important update that fixes 4 bugs:
- Texture can be loaded in Macs
- Fixed wrong rotations at the first frame
- Fixed wrong translations at the first frame
- Fixed lag after the very last frame
We suggest you to update to this version and to update your MCALibrary inside your mods.
1.3 version will be out soon and will have a lot of useful features like exporting for items and blocks and even support for Minecraft 1.8.

How to use: read the simple instructions in the README.txt file. You need Java 7.

Forget Techne and all its bugs and limitations!
MCAnimator is a new free editor that lets you create your own Minecraft models and animate them without knowing how to code.
Similar to Techne graphic, but completely made in Java for a perfect compatibility with all the computers, the MCAnimator will make your life a lot easier.
Creating a new model is simple and the new parent-child box system will let you easily create complex animations, something that you cannot do withother softwares without a good Java knowledge.
Many tools are included in the software and the texture offsets won't be aproblem anymore, you can just drag and drop the textureMap with fewclicks!
MAIN FEATURES
- Create Minecraft models
- Set each box position, offset, rotation, textureOffset, mirrorTexture
- Create parent-child boxes (connected boxes using "joints")
- Move and set easily the TextureMaps position
- Paint on the textureMap and see the result immediately on the model
- Create infinte animations for your model and watch the preview whenever you need it
- Import Techne models!
- Open and save .mca files
- Fly around your model
- Export the Texture and the TextureMap
- Create new empty textures
- Copy and paste keyframe values
- Exporter: export your models for any Minecraft version!
- HD textues
- Shortcuts for animations
- Windows, Linux and Mac compatibility!
- Much more: http://www.dd-studios.net/index.php/mcanimator
This IS awesome!
This IS so Helpful! especially for those who are not good at coding!
We're happy you like it, obviously not all the code can be completely avoided and you will have to do the last things to adapt the files to your mod, but we will provide all the tutorials you need to success in this last step
Thanks, we were really annoyed by Techne bugs and limitations (we are also delevoping the Star Wars mod) and we decided to help the Minecraft community with the MCAnimator
How do you make such a good and easy program? I'm amazed XD
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
-coughtchoo- Cough and a sneeze at the same time. Don't question it. I'm allergic to pretty much everything. And the saddest of all, penicillin. RIP me. If you have any questions don't hesitate to message me! Somehow.. I don't really know how Minecraft Forums works.. Oh well.
This is looking great so far ! The only thing I haven't been able to figure out how to use when blindly playing is animation, that speaks worlds about how well designed the controls are if I can get that far. A few ideas/suggestions:
1) Remember the last location saved to. Minor change that helps keep you from having to hunt/peck for the right folder when exporting.
2) More keybinds ! Can we get buttons to nudge the Position/Rotation/etc ? Perhaps keybinds to let the user pick that at a whim ?
3) Perhaps a slight adjustment or more buttons on directional movement ? When looking down the positive Y axis to the XZ plane, the controls Q & Z do the same movements as W & S, requiring you to use A & D in conjunction with the mouse to get movement in the north/south direction relative to the camera.
4) Grid view. It would nice to be able to turn on a "GRID" of full sized minecraft blocks to see how tall my object is relative to blocks. To see if I've made my monster a little too tall or too wide. You'd probably only need to highlight blocks where a model actaully existed, otherwise it'd be a bit hard to distinguish.
5) Group Scaling/Position Options. This could be my ignorance with respect to how to use the software, but it'd be nice if there were a way to scale an entire group. Ex: Shrink the size of a limb that contains multiple objects, or change the offset of the whole group, much in the way that you can rotate the whole group.
6) Will this eventually support the exporting to Minecraft version 1.8 .json model/texture format ?
- One niggling bug that doesn't really effect operation signifigantly: There's some tearing/artifacts in the textures when changing the camera angle. Attached is an image to demonstrate it on a box of dimentions 1x1x1 colored red.
Great job so far on all the hard work, this software looks like it's coming along amazingly well and is precisely the tool I've been searching for over the last few months ! Can't wait to see how the final version turns out looking !

Thanks for your useful and constructive feedback! So:
1 - It will surely be done;
2 - Keybinds are still absent. We obviously work on it to let you do things faster (mainly to change dimensions, position, rotations and offsets);
3 - This is a default view camera. Many games and softwares use it, we'll try to improve the camera anyway
4 - We don't think it's necessary. We will just show you blocks around the model in 3D to let you understand how tall it is;
5 - This is already a planned thing we forgot to add in the public list!
6 - Of course, but we haven't checked how they work yet, we need to check them a bit

This is the first "page", the Model Builder:
This is the second "page", where you can edit/paint in real time your texture and textureMap, which is called the Texture Editor:
This is the third page where you can animate your model. It's called the Animations Composer:
Hope you enjoy the preview, expect a stable Alpha release in a week or 2!

Yes, the MCAnimator will work on every computer that runs Java 7, so Windows, Mac, Linux and more!
We are close to the first release
We are really close to a stable Alpha version
Any feedback/suggestion/comment is well-accepted.
Note: you cannot export to java files yet, but you can save your projects to finish them when this feature will be added.
Note 2: have you already tried importing your Techne models into the MCAnimator?

Is there an error log I can post or something?

Not yet, sorry. What's the problem? How did you run the program? Please explain every step you did
Never happened to us so far. In which tab did it happen (Model, Texture, Animations)? Could you provide us a screenshot, please?
