Do you mean you are replacing the player model with a different model? That is possible, although you do have to make a few changes to the core of MCAnimator to make this work (at least I had to).
I am getting an error when I try to import a .png file for the texture on one of my mobs that I am making. I created my model for my mob and the mob is very big so I did not want to texture it pixel by pixel (btw I think you should add a way to increase the "brush" size) so I exported the texture onto my desktop because I already did a lot of detailed stuff in the program and filled in a large area with red using paint.net. When I tried importing the file (it is still in the 1024x1024 size) a window popped up saying "Uncaught exception thrown in Thread[AWT-EventQueue-0,6,main] NullPointerException" after I click ok on that window the program freezes and I have to exit it from my task manager.
If anyone could help it would be much appreciated. Other than this error I love this program really helps with the animating.
Are you sure you have downloaded the latest version? Are you on a Mac?
As Windbill said, you can do it, but you cannot replace the original minecraft player model. You would need to use our MCALibrary for creating and calculating animations and then code the calls of them and the update system for them. There is no other official way for it yet
Like The Modeler, don't like the exporter! can you make it so it can just export the model using ModelRenderer and all the default MC classes, really hard to mod wen i have to import a tone of files for one model wen i just want the model

So you are basically asking for a model without any animation?
This tool looks fantastic. My only problem is that it does not support the 1.8 JSON model format. Any ideas when this may be coming? I'd be willing to try a beta version if that was at all an option; this tool is just that great. Thank you for all the hard work!

1.8 JSON format is not a good way for animating models. This means we'll try to find another way to create models, similar to the previous MC versions
kinda, I want to just have the model with MC classes like techne did it for 3d armor and items that don't need the animations
This is out of the scope of the MCAnimator. There must always be the MCALibrary in the code, as model class doesn't use vanilla model methods (no euler angles for examples but quaternions). If you just want a static model you only need to use the model class AND removing the call to AnimationHandler in this class
Also in our planned list there's a new way for creating static models, very similar to CubeWorld way.

cool thanks! Ill try it out some more and try and get some new armor!
It would be cool if you guys could make it so that you could re scale your model(like you would re scale a texture map) I know it's impossible but it would still be cool.
I want animate player. How can I do this?

I am on windows 7 and I downloaded version 1.2.1. Do I need the png in the same folder as the mob's model?
Newest version is 1.2.2, please check if the error still happens there
Thank you that worked. Your website has version 1.2.1 as the latest version in case you want to change it.
Was away for work and forgot to update it, fixed
Godzilla mod is using this for animation.
Ahah let's see who will win, Godzilla mod has already a big advantage

Looks neat, I like it
Thanks, we'll update it soon to allow blocks and items animations and also 1.8 support
