Ok, so I was thinking about HTTYD and scenes from the second movie with the glide suit and that got me to thinking. Minecraft 1.10.2 has elytra in it. And the dragon mounts mod is open source and claims that when flying with elytra the dragon will glide next to you (I have not tested this myself). So I thought what if the developers somehow implemented a feature like that with the dragons where you can glide with wings and they will follow and glide along with you in mid air. That leads me on to my next idea. Wearing vanilla elytra is very very ugly unless the only thing you are wearing is the pair of elytra. So what if there was a new item/armor piece that could be crafted that was a dragon armor chest plate in the middle of the crafting grid, a Pair of elytra under it, and then maybe some slime balls or something filling up the other 7 slots. (Let me try to demonstrate below)
H = Chest Plate
V = Elytra
O = SlimeBall
O O O
O H O
O V O
So this would basically craft a Dragon Wing Suit where if you where falling it and pressed spacebar it would activate like elytra and if you where wearing full dragon armor you would look amazing while doing it all the while having your dragon gliding next to you at your side.

*heavy breathing* OH YEEES! I LOVE THAT IDEA!!! 😀😀😍😍😍 Totally the most epic thing I've heard all day!

Now I'm picturing hopping off and shooting at it while my dragon attacks from the other side.

Having slime as glue only screams Icarus for me. Maybe add rope in thecrafting and maybe I'll consider wearing it...
Jokes aside, it's a great idea. I'd love to see it implemented in the mod.

As awesome as this is, maybe we can tweak the recipe a bit. Personally I'd imagine that something more than slime balls would be needed to attach the wings to the suit, so maybe slimeballs are part of the recipe? Like leaving the slimeballs in the 4 corners. The rest could be iron ingots for example. The iron securely connects the two and the slimeballs fill any remaining spaces for a stronger bond. It just feels more realistic, but that's just me. What do you guys and galls think?

I Figured the recipe would be different. It is entirely subjective. I only put slimeballs because that idea came to me at 3 in the morning and that was the only way I could thing of to combine the elytra to the dragon armor. There are many things that could be used to attach them together like leads (as ropes) or sticks and iron ingots but I do hope that this idea could some how be implemented in the future.

Hey, 3am is when I come up with most of my best crap! Some nights the steamy pile practically sparkles!
I wouldn't think fire dragons themselves, maybe some kind of demonic dragon?
That would mean adding another dragon and the mod revolves around the Ice and Fire dragons. The only two dragon species that are currently planned to ever be in the mod.

I doubt that. Though it does sound cool, it has been stated, like, a thousand times there will be only Ice and Fire dragons.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but am I the only one here who actually prefers having only the two dragon species, but with different colorations, than having, like, ten species or something (not including the Ender dragon, which I hope will be remodeled in the future)? Just wondering... XD

I'll second that! Quality over quantity! I'd rather have 2 beautiful dragons to focus on and appreciate than 10. I think we can all agree that there's going to be an outbreak of gotta catch'em all fever with players trying to get every color. More mobs means more potential for bugs, more coding, and personally I think that it would cheapen the mod. That Ice and Fire is focusing on just these two dragons is something different and special.

Anybody know of any good 1.10.2 texture packs that would fit with the pre-roman to dark ages feel? And what about mods? Like storage and bibliocraft.
Mods currently in my Never Play Without folder which I've yet to suffer complications using are as follows: (I might have the names wrong because I'm looking at the file names.)
Autosapling
Birds nests (raised the rarity of nests dropping, at default they're about as common as saplings)
Craftable Elytra
Eat the eggs
Giacomo's Fishing Net
Pet Bats
Simple Corn
Simple Inventory Starter
Tumbleweed (like birds nests, but with tumbleweeds in the desert. You'll spend all day just chasing them!)
"Wolf armor" OR "wolf storage" (unsure of the official name, conflicts with Sophisticated Wolves)
If I'm playing 1.7.10 I can use Villager's Noses. (The world would be a better place if Villager's Noses was kept alive... We'd be able to grow villagers like potatoes for our dragons.)
This is just what I generally tend to use whenever I play modded and from there I'll add other mods, like Inventory Pets or Dragon Mounts.
The Cannibalism mod gives you a lot more meat! It could be very useful for dragon raising.
Any other suggestions?

Also I want to revise some of what I said earlier with regards to dragons in the nether. While it should stay as two species of dragon maybe wild fire dragons could be found there. Perhaps with a biome specific skin that can't be hatched. The pigmen are proof that gold is in the Nether, so maybe these rare fire dragons eat pigmen in the absence of livestock. If lairs are around they could have all the usual colored eggs and their hatchlings are normal, but living in the Nether and on a diet of pigmen has altered their color. It would be the same species with a biome specific skin, which doesn't break the Ice and Fire theme.
Once this mod gets a download available, I must tame both types of dragons and name the fire one Chilli Billi and the ice one Chilly Willy.
Why? Because...Maybe someone will get the reference.
Banjo Tooie boss names.
Their necks are not nearly long enough, and their wings are too big to look like those bosses though.

Check out my adventure modpack! 25+ carefully selected mods (Not counting Core Mods) and great for if you don't have that beefy of a computer. Plus it has over 2K downloads and counting so y'know it's good. Oh, and fully multiplayer compatible!
There's also the resource intensive version (if you can handle it) for a bigger experience!

Though my favorite is the fire red dragon, I'll name a tamed bronze yellow Aurahord and a silver grey Argenhord. I dunno why, I just really like these names. XD

Hey, I was wondering, can the Fire dragons be found in the Nether? 😕😜

I play only with the top notch mods only, which instantly excludes orespawn and lucky blocks.
