If a dragon so happens to fly over a village, will it set the village on fire? Also, will a dragon go looking for a village to destroy, or will dragons ignore villages all together?

So I return with some new ideas for the future of this mod. And yes, they will be better than my Progress Bar idea XD
So firstly, after watching a video talking about the new features that would come with update 1.11 to Minecraft, I saw that the devs were going to add treasure maps that could be bought from cartographers. From seeing this, I remembered that Dragon Lairs in this mod would contain lots of treasure and valuables, in which are being guarded by the Dragons. And that was where I had my first idea: What if as a future implementation in a later update, Treasure Maps could have a chance to show the location of a single Dragon's Lair. The reason I say the location of a single Dragon's Lair is so that players wont use the treasure maps to cheat their way into finding every Dragon's Lair in their world, and maybe it could be made so that Dragon Lairs only have a small chance of being shown on a treasure map, to make them feel more exciting to search for.
Alright, with my first idea out of the way, i'd like to present my second idea for a potential mob that could be implemented! Introducing...
(Insert Drum Roles) ~The Phoenix~
Being of Greek mythology, the Phoenix is a flaming, long-lived bird that can be cyclically regenerated or reborn upon death. A powerful and magnificent creature associated with the Sun, a phoenix will burst into a show of flames and combustion upon death, in which a new phoenix obtains new life by arising from the ashes of its predecessor. Perhaps a single phoenix could spawn within a world, in which they can be found guarding their nests within the Nether. If the player gets too close to it's nest, the phoenix will attack the player, using a volley of different flame attacks. If the player succeeds in killing the phoenix, a new phoenix could spawn in the nest it was guarding. However, this new, reborn phoenix is a chick, and is about the size of a chicken.
The player could then be able to tame the chick, in which it will assume the player as it's mother. As for raising a phoenix chick, while it does not demand as much food as raising a dragon does, the chick must be kept warm at all times in order for it to grow. Torches, fire, lava, a phoenix chick need as much heat as possible in order for it to grow and mature. Once it reaches adulthood, though, it will begin generating flames from it's own body, and will no long require the player to keep it warm. At this point, the newly grown phoenix can be mounted by the player, in which the mystic flames that cover it's body will allow the player to mount it. The player should also be able to craft a phoenix nest, so that if their very (VERY) powerful new phoenix mount dies, it will re-spawn as a chick in the nest you crafted.
______
So, there are my ideas. I hope you guys like them!

I'm fond of this idea, but perhaps there should be multiple phoenixes that spawn in the Nether. Mostly because if I had friends playing on a modded server, I would certainly want them to have one as well.

Now look, buddy. I'm an Engineer. That means I solve problems. Not problems like 'what is beauty', because that would fall within the purview of your conundrums of philosophy. I solve practical problems. Like, how am I going to stop some big, mean mother-hubbard from tearing me a structurally superfluous new behind? The answer: Use a gun. And if that don't work: Use more gun. Like this heavy-caliber, tripod-mounted little ol' number designed by me. Built by me. And you'd best hope, not pointed at you.
Good point. But phoenixes should at least spawn very rarely in the Nether, to make it so that finding a Phoenix is an exciting/terrifying experience for players. I also rolled around an idea where the player can transform a Phoenix into an even stronger creature called an Astral Phoenix. Pretty much, once you've raised and fed your Phoenix into adulthood through feeding it and providing it with plenty of heat, you'll have the opportunity to kill a Wither boss and feed a Nether Star to your Phoenix. The next time your Phoenix mount is killed, it will be resurrected as a Astral Phoenix chick.
While a normal Phoenix chick demands very little food (maybe gunpowder? :D) but lots of heat, Astral Phoenix chick are a lot more difficult to raise, demanding expensive materials such as Fire Charges and Blaze Rods, and require much more heat at a young age. When fully grown up, though, Astral Phoenixes could be something along the lines of the strongest mounts in the mod, having bodies burning with astral blue flames. However, Astral Phoenixes could have a massive drawback; if killed, an Astral Phoenix will not resurrect, and will instead pass onto the Spirit Realm to join it's Phoenix kin. So pretty much, if your awesome Astral Phoenix dies, it dies for good.
136 pages of waffle about a mod which isn't out yet is about my limit unfortunately, no matter how good it looks it might turn out to be someday. Could you please tell me if you're planning to make this mod available through Curse when it's out ? If so, I can stop watching this forum which would be excellent.
Will dragons go looking for villages to destroy, destroy one that they conveniently fly over or will they ignore villages all together? In other words, what do dragons do when they see, or don't see, a village?

if i recall the mod makers hope to release it later this winter or in the spring next year. don't stop following as the conversations are excellent and the makers post update photos that are pretty sweet.
What if there were two dragons that were larger than any of there kind that are the alpha and matriarch dragons. Two rather powerful dragons that live in a giant crater like nest with there young and other dragons. They would be very aggressive toward anything near there nest and be able to kill anything even if you were in creative mode. These massive dragons could drop something super rare like the Alpha egg or matriarch egg then you could raise one of them as your own, as they would grow and you become closer to it random wild dragons would join your flock? idk what you would call a group of dragons but any who up to like 10 to 20 dragons could join you. You could craft from the bones of the alpha and matriarch armor and a staff that shows your prowess to other dragons as well an using the staff to move large groups of dragons to attack or stay put or anything.
post note- If you decide to do something to the end how about a new wyvern ender Dragon that can hang on to the pillars to roar sneak attack breath violet fire at you etc. larger then the current dragon and it could be menacing, cruel, and pure evil. maybe have someone do a voice for it kinda making it like a end game boss that threatens you, mocks you, etc to make going to the end really worth it.
i love those ideas! but as for the alpha and matriarch dragons... will they be their own species or will one be ice and the other fire? or will they be just ice or just fire? no wait! the devs plan on adding an undead dragon boss with the ice dragon theme so the Alpha and matriarch could be the fire bosses! as for the dragon flocks... you should need to defeat the alpha and matriarch dragons and the dread king to get the staff that allows you to command dragons!
and yes i really wan't a challenging ender dragon. if it could cling to pillars and jump on you that would be awesome! and what about a dive attack!

That would be really cool to see the ender dragon dive at you like he/she could then grab you with there claws to drop you in to he void or something. The staff Idea sounds amazing! What if you needed the staff to fight the ender dragon because it is that powerful and amazing armor alone would save you so you would need a flock of dragons to help fight with you.
This mod (or whatever you call this so far) looks great, although I just hope it will live up to all this hype.
That's part of why it is taking so long. Then there is also this being the little pet project on the side. The main project is Fossils and Archeology if you want to see the amazing quality these developers can dish out. They have what it takes to make this everything we're hoping for (within reason of course, it's just a game...) and they're taking the time to hammer out every little nuance to get it all just so. Sometimes I can get a bit impatient myself and I have to remind myself of this.
The Matriarch Dragons sounds like a good idea, though not all of them should be totally aggressive. Maybe some are closer to like that of Godzilla and just want to be left alone, but if you enter their territory they will attack you. Though should something more dangerous enter its territory like another Matriarch Dragon it will ignore you. And if you helped kill the other Matriarch Dragon it will let you leave in peace as long as you don't steal anything or attack it or its wing(Groups of Dragons are called Wings, not flocks).
And Evil dragon seems like it could be a good idea...... It could also be a very bad idea. Though it would be cool to have a group of Ender Dragons in the end Islands that you could find that aren't as strong as the boss version. Also a Matriarch Ender Dragon would be cool.

Admittedly I was not expecting that results....it can't be right, I for one have to much a hero complex for that to be right and two: I am one of the most Pessimistic people around.....yea I have no idea how I got Mew.....
Now I got it, this is the Pokemon I would be. And I am not just saying that because I like Mewtwo, I really am a lot like Mewtwo.
It think it would be really cool to have your dragon dive and do a snatch attack (while you are riding it) where it snatches the target and flies higher and then drops the target.

The teaser's for dragon attacks already show that they do that.

I play only with the top notch mods only, which instantly excludes orespawn and lucky blocks.

They're asking if it happens while you are riding on its back. Something that I personally think could be a danger. I don't think that it's a good idea for your dragon to suddenly go rogue while you're riding it and bash your head on an overhang trying to pull off this move.
Edit: I'd be more worried over how you'll command your dragon to battle a specific target while your riding it and out of sword range in a world where the first hit from some mobs could kill you, so your pet aggroing because you were injured would be a little late. Maybe pets can detect when you shoot something within a reasonable distance when you are riding them.
Is this mod dead? It looked cool, but there aren't any downloads.

Far from it. It just hasn't been released yet. We have been getting previews quite regularly.
