Any chance we could get a method of obtaining redstone for compatibility with other mods? Also, an NEI plugin for recipes would go a long way to making this thing useable without having to use this post as a reference.
Edit: I now realize that copper is just renamed redstone, so feel free to disregard that first bit. However, I have found a particularly annoying bug that seems to break textures for items (Album). This is in a little modpack I threw together today, although I can replicate the issue without any mods. Here's a copy of the log, although I frankly doubt it's of much use.
How do you smelt the metals? I've made a smeltery, but I don't understand how to make it start smelting? I've put gabbro with titanium in it, and put coal in all slots. What should I do?
This mod looks really cool so far! It also bears a striking resemblance to another mod called Terra firma craft, have you concidered contacting their dev team? They have a lot more progress towards realistic erra based technology, maybe you could work with them. That would certainly be cool.

Hi kinkodoyle!
Thanks for the log. We have not yet tested with NEI but it looks like something we need to investigate. Has anyone else got the broken textures? With/without NEI?
This is only part 1 though, part 2 will be up tomorrow. At the end of part 2 I show some bugs I've found, so that might be interesting for the modmakers to watch.
(If it's not okay for me to post the videos here, let me know. I'll take them down immediately!)
I'd recommend you add a book which can be crafted aswel, which has all the information about various blocks in them, aswel as the crafting recipe. I struggled to find out some recipes and how to smelt certain things, I think a book with info in it will definitely help players get into this mod easier.
Hi KillingManiac,
and thank you for doing a mod review, we appreciate it. You are welcome to post your reviews here (both part 1 and 2) and we will look into them and see the bugs you have found.
Also, thanks for the idea about making a type of "crafting book" with more information about the blocks and the recipes. We'll add that to the list of suggestions.

Hey Rabid_mushroom,
Thank you!
I didn't know about Terra firma craft, I'll ask my colleagues if they have seen it before. We'll definitely look into what they have done, and maybe it can result in some kind of collaboration later on.
This looks promising. Compatibility with other mods would be nice, and maybe support for addons?
Edit: another question, how would you obtain redstone? It says redstone is replaced.
Hey HastagBenches,
we are looking into the possibilities for compatibility with other mods, and we agree that it would be nice to work something out! Stay tuned for more information.
And about the copper, I believe my colleague Nicklas answered your question.
Thanks for the help with my crashing issue; it appears to have been related to how far out chunks are rendered when switching between 1.8 and 1.7.
I also noticed a bug where BetterGeo textures are messed up unless Advanced OpenGL and anisotropic filtering are turned on.
This is a really interesting mod. The textures are beautiful and the mechanics are really interesting. The fact that I'm learning geology while playing is huge for me, and I really look forward to more and different uses for the new materials in the future.
Here's part 2! At the end of it I'll be showing off the couple of bugs I have found.
Thanks for the positive response on my first video! I hope solving the current bugs go well and that you could implement support for other mods into this. I'm very interested in doing a series on this mod, but would like other mods to go with that.
Good luck with your mod! I'll be checking this thread occasionally for updates.
Thank you! We'll update the mod as soon as we can.
We'll look in to the possibilities to implement support for other mods.

Hej!
Hi! Thank you for the input and important information for us. I think we have to come back to you with more detailed answers. Also, we would like to put out the questions and answers in English so as many people as possible can use the information. We'll write here again as soon as we can. Thank you.

Happy to hear!
About the bugs: I just noticed the magnetic compass starts spinning and never stops when I change the anisotropic filter setting. Must investigate. Do you have other examples of strange texture behavior?
Quick summary: realistic geology of rocks, ores, etc, in a manner that fits into, instead of replacing, vanilla minecraft.
Has the ground minerals needed to support chemistry/industry/etc.
TFC, on the other hand, basically says "This is a new game on the same engine"; it is more of a total conversion than just a more realistic worldgen/ore layout.
(In regard to a mod that gives realistic animal genetics):
Would you really rather have bees that make diamonds and oil with magical genetic blocks?
... did I really ask that?
Hi was wondering if you could make a new block for the natural sandstone, with a more natural texture for the sandstone than the current minecraft texture, to differentiate between the two. (Suggestion: The default MC one is more of a building block, maybe a product of chiseling normal sandstone?) (Which would give you reasons to make chisels, could be different chisels with different qualities according to their material. Copper / Iron / Tungsten / steel.
Also, opting in again for a mod version bound to a simpler tech group. (without modern tech)
EDIT:
Would also love to see a way where you could pan without destroying the block, it's just tagged as ''empty'', + the amount of diamonds from panning might seem a bit OP. If you could add a ''diamond nugget'' that works the same way as any other nugget, 9 nuggets = 1 Diamond. (For servers both these are a problem seeing the value of panning would butcher the rivers, maybe make so that the panning require sluices?)

Hi!
Thank you for the advice! We have had a look at the mod Per Fabrica Ad Astra - Geologica and we will look in to the possibilities to make the mods compatible and work together in some way

1. The new rock types are replacing cobblestone. Stone (the ordinary stone block from Vanilla) may appear naturally where lava comes in contact with water. But other than that, stone is replaced by new rock types, also in recipes.
2. We have started to look closer in to NEI and Ore Dictionary. We will post more information later.
3. Thank you for your advice on how to play in different worlds with different Forge profiles.
4. We have tested to play on server and it works fine. You are welcome to try and contact us if there are any problems.

Hello ximeeen,
In b1 we've replaced the regular sandstone texture with our own beige texture. They are the same block at the moment. Adding new texture to the list of suggestions.
Chiseling has been considered and might show up later on. Good idea.
Panning is something we want to make better. Will look into tagging as empty and using sluices. Agree on diamond drops being OP. Expect a nerf in the next update or so.

You need 8 blocks for each ingots.

Maybe we need to simplify the smelting? It's not entirely self explanatory. Will look into it.

Instead of looking at Terra Firma Craft, can you look at integration with Per Fabrica Ad Astra (aka Geologica)?
