I havent noticed anything strange or something after the Effect wore of. (Exept a bit of Lag, which is normal on my laptop) Not Yet al least.
Ill tell you if this changes.
Are there any plans set yet about the Dracula Boss and Minions?Did you already decide how the Playable Hunter will work?
I suggested a whole arsenal of "Holy" wheapons for Hunters and the Altar of Cleansing inside Churches beeing some sort of Crafting table for those...
I thought about Normal Players beeing "Recruted" or "Singning up" to become a Hunter Player and enabling more Items to be craftable and leveling up turning Vampire Fangs in from Vampires they Kill.
The Goals for a Vampire are: (If I understand this correctly)
Drink Blood.
Stay out of the Sun.
Become more Powerful.
The Goals for a Vampire Hunter are: (Again, Im just telling what I think, not giving orders)
Protect Villagers.
Destroy Vampires.
All for the greater good...

Again some cool ideas, which we will keep in mind.
I think the Vampire Hunter won't do all that for the greater good alone. He will get more powerful items against Vampires and probably against everthing else as well (by abusing some vampire items or so), so he get's some advantages as well.
I don't have much time at the moment, but maybe I am able to start next week. Still have to decide what should have higher priority Vampire Lord Transformation and Dracula etc. or the Vampire Hunter side. What do you want to see first?
By the way Mistadon is making some good progress with the coffin, it might be finished very soon,
I would like to see the Vampire Lord, the Minions, the Castles I suggested, Dracula and all of that first, and after that, in a larger update, server support, Items for normal Players and low Level Hunter Players do effectively fight Vampires, Playable Hunters.
I Imagine the Versions between 0.8 and 1.0 beeing about balancing and Bugfixing. But Others might want playable hunters first.
You could do a Voteing so supporters and Downloaders could Vote if they want Playable Hunters or Dracula first.
And what if there are issues when a Player has one singleplayer world where he is a high level Vampire and another one where he plays as a Hunter?
About the Coffins.
It is not only possible but very easy to become a Vampire before even finding Coal or having a Furnace.
So I hope the Coffin will not require some rare, Ore based Items like Gold Ingots or Redstone, but cheap stuff like Cobblestone (Yes, there are Coffins out of stone, but they have a diffrent Name. I dont know it in English) or Wood with Wool or Leather.
About the Playable Hunters.
I think protecting Villagers should be as much of a core element for the Hunter Gameplay as Killing Vampires probably will be. Therefore, there should be high advantages for a large number of Villagers under Protection. So if Villagers die or get turned, Hunter Players start to loose advantages.
Vampires cant use all their Powers during Daytime and take damage already, and Hunters get drawbacks or other disadvantages if they fail at protecting Villagers.
And: Is it possible to make Vampire Players drop one peace of Fangs, even if they dont have any in their Inventory? (And that ignores Gamerule keep Inventory and Gravestone mods) Maybe by spawning that Item on the Spot a Vampire Player dies?
Just thinking... Bc Vampire Players most probably will be able to get Blood from non-vampire Players on Servers.

There is the Idea of Minions around that collect Blood for their Master roaming around. The Idea sounds Cool, but I dont see it fit in the atmosphere of the Mod.
As a temporary object, I agree it would be great, but it shouldnt be too complicated then.

@Screemer It seems that the probability is not high enough, a few other players had this issue as well. I just wanted to make sure it does not happen to often. With the next update the probability will be increased and I will maybe add a alternative way to get the effect.
Do you get any other effect, when beeing bitten, there is a chance that some other mod is conflicting.
Maybe try "/effect <username> 42 500" in a creative world, if that gives you "Sanguinare Vampiris" everything should be fine, otherwise please tell me.
In case that worked and you can use cheats in your world, you can use the command there as well, otherwise you will have to wait for an update or get hit more often

This remembers me of an Idea I had but forgott about it.
A Potion that gives the Effect, that isnt obtainable in survival. Only in Creative for Testing Vampire stuff or (as a splash potion) for Moderators and Admins on Servers if there are not enough Vampire Players to put a challange to the Hunters.

About what we talked about the AI of Vanilla Mobs we talked about.
Im Using a Mod that makes Animals be "Wild Amimals". This Means they become hostile if attacked and look a bit diffrent. By breeding them, the Player gets normal Farm Animals. The "Wild" Versions are compatible with the Bite, but have diffrent Names and Looks.
Therefore i believe they are (somewhat) custom mobs, that take original parts of the Vanilla mobs, without actually changeing anything.
(Like I said, I dont know anything about Modding. Maybe you take a look at "Imprving Minecraft"?)
You could make "Vampire Versions", similar to my suggestion, as this mod adds "Wild Versions".
Just as an Idea...
Also, in the Dracula Book, Dracula had not only the Ability to change into a bat and make it rain, he could transform also into a Dog and into Myst.
And he could fit through spiderwebbs and iron Bars. But he couldnt cross flowing Water unless carried.
I dont suggest all of it. Dont get me wrong.
A Skill for invisability that leasts short and has a long cooldown (Without a particle effect) for higher Levels would be cool. And a Dog form that is avalable during the day for very high levels. (Does not protect from Sun damage)
What do you think?

"Improving Minecraft" seems to replace the vanilla mobs with custom versions, but other mods still think it is the same (that's why you can still bite them).
I don't know if that causes more problems or solves them. I will think about that, but it will have to wait.
There are many storys about vampires and views on vampires, and I personally do not think transforming into a dog fits. Only the invisibility sounds kinda cool.
The really basic things are done (the game saves if you if you are a vampire lord, all vampires attack you, you loose your lord status, when killed by another vampire or hunter, as well as some preparation for other future stuff).
Now I have to implement the way to become a vampire lord, as well as the impact. For that I need some suggestions or feedback.
Here are the current ideas (my own and stuff posted earlier):
- To become a lord you have to be at the highest vampire level and kill Dracula (when the castles are implemented, he will spawn there).
What special ability should Dracula have, he currently has his minions as well as the ability to teleport similar to an enderman. Any suggestions on the visual effects when you killed him
- Should there be a visual effect while being a lord (like the red borders during vampire rage) and how should they look
- While being a lord you can have minions, but get more sun damage. What other skills should you gain? (I thought maybe adding the temp invisibility skill exclusive to vampire lords)
- You can have minions (for now only fighting ones, later maybe ones that bring you blood or mine), but how do you obtain them, do they just spawn around you or do you convert normal vampires when you kill them, or do you have to use a special item to convert them, or something else?
That's strange, I assume you are using v0.5.1? I just tested it again and in my world it seems to work fine. Maybe it is actually some kind of mod conflict.
Can you send me the log file as described here after trying to activate the altar? Thanks.
Just to make sure since I can't tell from the picture for sure: the pillars have 3 air blocks in between of each other?

I like this and believe you should make it like that. I have some suggestions for you for the details.
-Dracula should only be damagable or killable by highest level vampires. When he dies, he cant spawn a second time in another castle. (Not even for another Player, when PVP is added, so the only way to become Vampire Lord if another Player killed Dracula is to kill this Player.) There should be red smoke that gets sucked into the Player that killed Dracula, makeing him his succesor.
-I dont really know what Type of Visual Thing it should be (maybe make the Player look like the Vampire Lord from Skyrim (minecraft-style)) but there should definitly be one, so he can be easily spotted. (By players, when PvP is added)
-Of course more health and streangh. It would make sense to give the Lords powers similar to those Dracula has.
For its the last, final stage, he should be really powerful. Short range teleportation, should be a thing, if Dracula keeps the Abillity to teleport.
In order to make it worth the Fight, it should make a diffrence if the Player is Lord or not. Stronger and less restricted versions of powers the Player had before, new powers, he didnt have before... Let the Lord throw firecharges, if theres no better Idea around.
But remember: Every Power you give the Lord sould be also a Power Dracula has. So if the Player wants to be invisible and throw fireballs at his foes while teleporting arround, he first needs to defeat an invisible, fire throwing Dracula that Teleports.
-For the Minions, there should be Minions that not only fight, but also collect Blood and Mine for ores.
I thought about getting Minions by "Recriuting" NPC Vampires. (Maybe by biteing them?) Vampire Minions should be given orders ("Go mine for Gold/Iron/Coal/Diamonds/Redstone/Emerald... and put what you find in this Chest", "Take those Bottles, get them full with blood and put them in this Chest", "Stay here and defend this Place with your Life", "Come with me and fight my Enemies" etc.) by a Menu that opens by rightclicking them. The Top 5 Levels of Vampires should also be able to have Minions (5 to 10 or something) but Lords should be able to have about three times that number.
Pick whatever you like.

Hi maxanier, i got a problem.
I dont know if is a feature or a bug, but i cant breed sheeps.
The first time i breed two sheeps for kill one and it worked, then i cant breed these sheeps anymore.
Im using version 0.5.1.
Edit: Nvm, sheeps have breed again.
I suppose that was caused by the vanilla breeding mechanics, which makes recently breded animals unable to breed again for 5 minutes.
http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Breeding#Mechanics
Hi maxanier, i'm a level 9 vampire and i dont receive any sun effects during the day.
Version 0.5.1.
I'm also having the same problem. At first I thought it was because of mods, but it was not ...
Thanks for the report.
It seems I made a mistake in the check day code. So a new version 0.5.2 with the fix is released.
Still hoping on some more feedback regarding the vampire lord transformation:
