He's trying to get some people together to re-write it for 1.7.2, but aside from that, the 1.6.4 release is pretty much complete and mostly stable. I've yet to have a crash with it.
Easy to replicate the bug. Create a new world, and stand with a anvil in your hand. Memory usage should go up by about 5mb a second. Actually just taken 2 heap dumps that show where the leak may be so I'll report my findings to him.

Probably a good idea, though I wouldn't expect any fixes. I tried replicating it, but I must say, results were inconclusive. I my normal test worl holding an anvil didn't seem to have any real impact, RAM usage went up, but stabilised and in a new world it's changing too much already for me to be able to tell.
Regardless, it's hardly game breaking, just don't run around holding an anvil and you'll be fine.
I suspect it is any TileEntity render from MF. I noticed the same thing holding an encrusted dagger.
And yeah not really expecting much. Its a shame because I really enjoy the mod and as you say its fine except for this one issue. In my case its ok as I get about an hour before I hit my memory limit, but others crash out far more frequently (less memory -> more frequent crashes). I've offered to help out, but am not quite up to decompiling his mod to do so!
maybe add some compatibility with chisel (clay wall variants, more types of slate, cobblestone brick, granite brick, dirt brick, etc)
also, aether 2 just updated to 1.6.4, maybe add some compatiability with that (redo aether progression), although that would be a lot of work

I personally have limited exposure to Ars Magica, so I'm not sure where adjustments would be appropriate, and adjusting the recipes for spells would require an Ars Magica API, which also does not appear to exist.

I was wrong, there is an Ars Magica API, but there is not one for chisel as far as I can tell.
I did have to remove the recipe adjustment for Balkon's weapon mod crossbow bolts though, for some reason, it refused to realise they existed when I put the obfuscated mod into my modpack client.

I was thinking about that yesterday, and it would be cool, but as it stands I dont have any idea how the NEI API works, and I think AP actually left out NEI integration on purpose, so I'm not sure.
hm.......so how does this mod interact with thaumcraft?
Currently, it does not. Only the items in the list that are suffixed with some form of 'done' have been implemented.
In the future, I intend to bridge it, though, I am not entirely sure in what ways as I have limited experience with an old version of it.

forged thaumium weapons and armor for one, better enchantes and it can take the repair enchant. And I have a fun idea, shards in weapons and tools to cause differnt effects. like fire, lightening, slowing em, more push back, weakness. just a few ideas.
AP hasn't attempted it because there had already been a mod that added NEI compatability for MF. That mod is very outdated, and it doesn't seem ilke it will ever be updated in the future.
