How does renaming CLC to something else get it to load earlier? There shouldn't be any other mods in the folder when you try this.
If I do not have computer craft in my mods folder, my game will load.
if I have CLC and CC installed I get that Already tessellating error
Sometimes if I renamed Computer Craft, it would work once, but the very next time I tried to start the game, without doing anything, it would go back to crashing.
I've tried switching to Open Computers, but that causes a different issue, but I haven't investigated to see if it is a CLC interaction causing that problem as well. That isn't a crash. That issue is this: if I go to the creative tab for OC, my screen will darken and remain darkened until I exit MC.
edit: the crash log doesn't mention CLC, it calls out CC as the source of the error
edit2: yes, the issue with open computers is caused by CLC...took that out and I have no issues with it....ARGH!
grumble....seems it is not just CLC and CC together but another mod as well....sigh.....time to get testing.
edit: found it.....of all the mods....Wireless Redstone-CBE...time to bug that mod author
edit2: seems it is ANY mod that adds in CC support causes the "already Tessellating" error....sigh....
edit3: looks like I'm going to have to wait and see about the Open computers mod and hope that one gets updated so it won't cause issues with the creative tab.
Does anyone else have an issue with NEI and CLC? If I open my inventory in survival only the green channel shows and the sky starts flickering like crazy. The input boxes one menus won't show anymore and I have to restart minecraft to be able to get it back to normal.. until I open my inventory again.

what other mods do you have? I got something similar with Open computers and CLC, but the mod author has a dev version that fixes most, of that problem.
Does anybody else get an issue where the graphics drivers crash and recover every 5 or so minutes whilst using this mod? I'm trying to diagnose whether it's this mod, or my dying graphics card...
not me.
the only real way to tell is to do something else graphics intensive and see if you crash.
PSA: I don't think I'm going to work on this mod very much anymore.
I will continue maintaining the git-repo, and I'll make sure the build server stays up... If anyone submits a PR, or wants to develop/make changes to the mod in a significant way, the door is wide open. I'll review code to the best of my ability, and make sure things stay the same, but I simply don't have any motivation to spend hours of my life learning Java + ASM.
Since many of you may not know what that is... I'll try to give you guys a 2 second low-down:
Minecraft by itself doesn't have colored lights... or any ability to color lights in its unmodded state. So my job is to stop Minecraft from loading, grab the classes that handle light calculations, light data, world saves, etc, and modify them. This modification is usually hacky to some extent, and requires a deep understanding of how Minecraft's rendering pipeline works, as well as interactions between modified classes, and the Java Virtual Machine (JVM). There are some libraries that can help modders make changes like I was doing: (ASM) And I was able to use Forge to create a Core-Mod that would alter Minecraft as it was loaded into RAM.
If everything works, you get to see colors, and your worlds are STILL backwards compatible.
The issues that I kept on running into are twofold.
1.) I don't know ASM that well... and how I need to use it to satisfy the JVM... It's a LOT of guess + check. Doing simple things like adding variables could take me hours if I didn't know what was going wrong. Here are the 17 lines of code that set the default sunlight color variable in the world class. It's not simple stuff... and writing that kind of code isn't fun for me either. I'm sure there are better ways of doing it... and I simply don't want to find out anymore.
2.) I don't know NEARLY enough about OpenGL. At first, I wasn't using much of OpenGL to add color to the world, but it became increasingly clear that I'd need delve into OpenGL and shaders to get everything to work. I don't have a clear understanding still... Murray and a couple others were able to start the implementation, and we got most of it working. So while I can see what's going on in the current setup, I don't know how to rewrite a "better shader" or fix the issues that currently exist in the pipeline. (This is what causes so many issues with Optifine and the ShaderCore)
So... what does that mean?
I'll make sure things compile. And I'll make sure to help anyone who wants to show up, and start turning wrenches and writing code. But... my interests have moved on. When Minecraft moves to C++ (the Windows 10 release thing), I might look at it again, but I don't need more Java right now... especially ASM + Java... It's not a very useful skill for what I do (embedded systems developer/engineer) and I'm sad I have to break it to you all. It hasn't been all bad, and I've had moments that were a TON of fun!
you sound like you need help. I wish I knew Java....
what you've done is crazy, even if it isn't perfect.
Modding should never feel like a chore/job and when it does it is time to step back and let someone else take over.
I'm glad you are keeping the code avail, someone somewhere will likely want to take this code up.
TBH, I'm surprised that Mojang hasn't tried doing this. If this mod and smart moving were added to stock MC, it would change the game so much and yet not be crazy.
PSA: I don't think I'm going to work on this mod very much anymore.
Ahh crud. I was worried this was the case. Are you still contributing to Chisel2 or has that wound down as well?
Well, Colored Lights has been on my wish list since playing in beta and seeing some of the work being done by modders trying to implement it (also, Terraria). This is the first time it's ever been reliably playable, and I had some serious fun with it. I also enjoyed testing for you and helping keep the Compatibility Sheet up to date. To anyone interested in picking up the torch, I'll continue to monitor this thread and do what I've been doing. Hopefully if a C++ rewrite runs as efficiently as it's said it will, you won't need to go through all this trouble (i.e. they'll color the blasted lights themselves). Thank you, Cpt, for making one of my Minecraft dreams come true (no exaggeration there, really).
Have you tried r/feedthebeast to see if anyone is interested in helping out? Maybe the Forge irc/forums?

The mod wasn't very big... so I don't feel comfortable just blasting it all over the internet in big bold words "I'M DONE, HAVE A GREAT DAY" everywhere... I'm not a big deal... and I don't want to be.
Sad to see you're leaving, but it was a good creation. It's been a while since I've looked at the repo, (last time being about a year ago), and if it's well-enough documented, I might be able to take it up. (Been working with GLSL shaders for a while).
i am sad to see you leaving you are a modding legend you got it to work with shaders perfectly for a while then 1.7 came in. this mod is huge to me. it makes the game look amazing .

I see your reasoning for not trumpeting your decision, but might I point out that "big" is relative. Colored lights may not be "big" to people that play with machines and pipes and logic and drones all day. To someone like me however, they're as important as aesthetic block mods or microblocks. It adds something that no other mod comes close to. You did really good work here, I plan on using CLC until it won't run anymore for whatever reason.
That being said, I don't see how there would be anything to lose by putting out a short post summarizing your decision and including a link to the source. Also, +1 trololo for titling the post "I'M DONE, HAVE A GREAT DAY".
If you're still talking about the green and black texturing, I've more or less narrowed my own experience with it down to Thaumcraft. I can't seem to reproduce it in the pack I run without TC4, but I get it often in my main pack that has TC4 and a boatload of addons. CLC is still beta and has some imperfections.
-edit- I remember reading something about Botania having a similar issue.. I'll try running a Garden of Glass setup and see if I can reproduce.
1 question:
does this run with this forge version?
1.7.10-Forge10.13.3.1388-1.7.10
yes

Open computers just released an update to make it compatible with CLC.

Ugh! The mod doesnt seem to work for me. When I try, this happens:
Are you trying to run this with the Shaders Mod? CLC and Shaders are currently incompatible.

I'd say I'm sad, but honestly minecraft can roll to all hell. Do what feels good!
I'd actually try the shaders people, maybe they would be willing to help.
