If forge gets updated to 1.8 would we see dragon mounts updated to 1.8 as well? Love this mod btw, its a must for me when I play modded. Just something about riding a dragon into battle seems awesome.
Also I noticed something. A friend and I attempted to have an air battle with the dragons where him and I would use our swords, bows and staffs (CustomNPCs) but we couldn't use them properly like the swords would exactly hit, the arrows I fire would hit my dragon, not damage and just fall down and the staffs cause an explosion and it would just hit my dragon. Would it be possible to work around it? Like have it where you can fight other players on horses?
This has been a WIP for 3 years? What else do you have to work on before releasing the finished version?
I don't think it will ever be really finished. Especially not before a stable official modding API is available. But maybe I'll create a new thread in the normal forum at some point.
We have this up and functioning correctly on our server. The dragons can actually fly faster than new chunks can be rendered by the server, and clients with lower spec. computers may experience some hesitation when cruising in rendered chunks. To help address the situation, we are pre-rendering out to our world border, and I would recommend that anyone else using this mod consider doing the same thing. We have had multiple dragons in close proximity, and it has worked, although there has been a slight drop in TPS at the time. Strangely, the dragons are actually better across most terrain than either the Mojang or Mo'Creatures horses, which tend to pause at ridiculous intervals, lower polys not withstanding. If you run multiple worlds (Twilight, etc,) you will see a significant performance hit when both dragons and additional worlds are loaded. I am NOT suggesting that the dragon speed be turned down.
I would like to request that:
1) all dragons be enabled to swim. They don't drown, but we've had some nasty underwater issues with dragons, leads, and their inability to float. The water dragon and frost dragon should certainly be able to swim. Dr. Zhark did it for his wyverns, so it's certainly possible (ask him maybe?). Perhaps the red, nether, and end dragons should take a small amount of damage (configurable) each second they are in water?
2) A special tool needs to be made to control the dragon and to avoid accidental right clicking with the bone. The tool should be able to summon the dragon (like a whistle) on terrain clearance check, OR make the dragon sit (and not tp) when within say 10 blocks of the dragon. Players are reporting occasional teleports with sitting dragons. I have not been able to verify this personally.
3) Would it be possible to use dragons as a teleportation device? Or at least compatible with the renamed Zan's? As you know, with Voxelmap, the player can teleport to a waypoint. It would be handy if the dragons could "jump" while being ridden. Just a Dragonriders of Pern thought, I have no idea if that would even be possible.
4) Hit boxes be corrected and adapted for size! Dragons are blundering through houses, sand, dirt, etc. We almost lost one to a sand pile.

Yeah, I have problems with that too. It might be a glitch but I'm not sure.
It says that there are known and unknown bugs. What are the known bugs?
Well, usually what you find on the previous 10 pages. I don't really keep track of that in the forum post anymore, since this here isn't a bug tracker.
The GitHub issues page could be a nice place for that, but I just created it a few weeks ago, so there's not much to see there yet.
You can get the Aether dragon, and a Forest dragon. For the Aether dragon, you have to hatch it over a specific height, just like the Ghost dragon, and to get the Forest dragon you have to hatch it in a flower forest biome.

As well as a Frost dragon. Hatch it near snow, or in a cold biome.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Because why not put the RPG test thing on my signature?
if you want to hatch your dragon in a different breed put what kind of breed you want it at the end of the command like\
/dragon stage adult end, or any other breed
you can automatically tame a dragon by using
/dragon tame
Aether Dragon: Height over 100 blocks. (best ist you go to a coords hight of like 130)
Ghost Dragon: Go far down as possible and make sure you make a big and DARK room where it can hatch. (have fun getting it out if there then)
Forest Dragon: Place Flowers near the Egg
Fire Dragon: Place it near Lava
Water Dragon: Place it near Water
Ice Dragon: Place it near Snow or Ice
Nether Dragon: Put Nether Stuff near it
Black Dragon: Just make sure that NOTHING of the stuff above is around it.
That would be all sorts of dragons. Anyways..i really have to say, the updates go fast! I really gonna have to try out the newest version 83 keep up the good work Barracuda! (hope i spelled it right O_O' *didn't looked at the name right now*)
[quote]Quote from CuteySamMC»i need help how do i do that /dragon command i will be happy:D if someone helps me
As much i know, you can do.
/dragon stage egg
/dragon stage adult
(don't ask me what's between, i think like hatchling and such o_o)
/dragon tame
My Dragon can go up with F or S buttons, but it can't go down. Is anyone having this bug too?
I think its R for down? Or X, i'm not sure because i allways change the buttons for dragon movements. Pause the game and go to the controll section, you can see there which buttons are used for what actions.

Actually I tried it, Aether is like 253+? Well at least for some reason that was like that for me, then again, I used jungle trees and bonemealed them to get to that height so it kept turning into a forest so that might have been the problem
The dragons could maybe move faster on land (a little faster than your player). That way you can get on your dragon and move around and not just fly around. Both having good uses.
Fire breathing... that's one. Can't be a dragon without it

No, I don't think it's a glitch, I think it's just the way the dragon was modeled or coded or what not but I'm hoping he can work around it
Btw, it is still an amazing mod with really graceful movements on the dragons:D
You are right about the Aether dragon.
Ghost dragon-you need to go deeper, like,to teh bedrock.
Forest dragon-just place it next to a tree lol.
As well as a Frost dragon. Hatch it near snow, or in a cold biome.
