I would like to have some awesome green poisonous gas that acts like a liquid and travels upwards then expands and is poisonous.
This would be used for awesome traps.
Like if you pushed this button a hole in the floor would open and poisonous gas would fill the entire room. Then kill everybody.
Or a gas chamber for mobs. (that kinda sounds evil)
But you know what I'm sayin' like an upside down liquid thats a vapor thats a poisonous gas that kills stuff (like players that do the wrong thing)
Just throwin' the idea out there because honestly, I haven't even looked at the code for liquids and I'm pretty certain I would suck creating this project.
However if it were made into a mod I would download it and use it
So something similar to some gases in glenn's gases but for 1.10.2? Basically the gas would put something like wither on whatever crosses its path (reason I didn't say poison is due to it not being able to kill a player, while wither is)

Yeah, lol. Before I had thought poison would kill the player, but depended on difficulty, but nope. That was hunger.
Something more similar to wither would be better though the option to add a new status effect is also possible. Then choosing how it affects the player is next thing. (So something like making poison on normal and hard kill while easy act like vanilla poison)
I wonder how source blocks would work, otherwise your gravity-inverted poison water idea sounds like a very interesting approach to getting poison gas into Minecraft... may even work for smoke to especially while playing with textures etc.

well i mentioned it as a base idea area, but there is no 1.8+ versions which the OP wanted.
And to Canoby, i didn't question whether it was updated or not but comparing it to this guys' idea for a mod.

Poison would totally be alright. It wouldn't have to be wither.
You get poisoned by a trap you triggered in the middle of a room. Holes in the walls appear revealing dispensers rigged up with arrows.
The arrows fire, you dodge the arrow trap but you are still poisoned!
Queue the zombie plz.
I don't see any harm in having both a wither and a poisonous gas though.
We were more or less saying the status effect which could kill you and are similar to poison. That is why I had mentioned wither.

You might want to look at "Harder Underground". It has a flammable gas, that comes in a dense and light variety.
During worldgen, it places dense gas in veins; when these run into caves, etc, it turns into the light variety, and floats up.
It's not poisonous, but it does cause you "lack of air" suffocation, and it catches on fire, and explodes when on fire.
Current status: 1.7.10 is released; 1.10.2 is waiting for two forge pull requests to go in.

Well when 1.9+ version is released then it can work for here, but otherwise it doesn't fulfill the need
