I have two Sinister nodes near my base in my custom set of mostly magic mods, both of the nodes provide me with large quantities of a particular aspect, so I don't want to destroy them. Is there some way I can turn them into normal or pure nodes?
I have:
Thaumcraft 4.2.3.5
Thaumic Machina
Thaumic Energistics
Thaumic Horizons
Thaumic Infusion
Thaumic Tinkerer
Witching Gadgets
Thanks in advance for any help.

If I remember correctly, in the late game Thaumic Tinkerer, there is a node purifier (although I may be completely wrong). Do bare in mind, however, that there are certain aspects which can only appear in sinister nodes, so be careful that you are not going to accidentally remove the aspect that you want.

From memory nodes that merge tend to "squish" the properties of the smaller node, try building up or finding a node larger than the sinister node that doesn't have the sinister property and let the two merge. You will lose some points from the sinister node, but at least the actual types of vis will move into the larger node.

Fortunately they're both primal(Aquos & Ignis).

Or if you use an advanced node stabilizer with any node in it and place the sinister ones around it there aspects will be absorbed into it regardless of the size of the node in the stabilizer, also it's a bit more reliable. I believe the loss rate on aspects is diminished by doing this rather than letting them merge uncontrolled.

Last I checked the stabiliser only prevents other nodes from eating into that node, ie place a node in it and any larger nodes around won't care. It doesn't keep that stabilised node eating other nodes regardless of size, larger nodes will not be merged into it.

Your thinking of the normal node stabilizer, I was referring too the advanced one. The advanced stabilizer allows the node placed in it to eat from other "unprotected" nodes around it while the other nodes can't touch the stabilized one. It allows you to have more options when combining nodes as the size and power of the node in the advanced stabilizer is irrelevant, even the weakest node can consume from others safely using this method. It also gives an increased chance of restoring the node, changing fading nodes into pale, ect, then the basic node stabilizer. Also it does seem to maintain more aspects from the nodes it's consumed while in the stabilizer compared to nodes feeding without a stabilizer. Advanced Stabilizers are only really designed for merging nodes as any node place in it has it's recharge rate almost negated so you should deactivate it when your not feeding your node.

Regular node stabiliser doesn't allow the stabilised node to eat anything at all, advanced allows it to eat smaller nodes without being eaten itself, but it doesn't eat larger nodes. While developing my mod I had 9 nodes with 1 in an advanced stabiliser to screw around, the stabilised node ate all nodes except the ones that were larger than itself.

Well it must be a bug or setting on the server I've been playing on recently because nodes in advanced stabilizers will eat any and all nodes placed in their reach. I started with a pure, fading node with less than 10 aer and was able to feed it normal nodes with multiple aspects right from the start. I fed it rather than a larger node because I wanted a pure node, now after consuming dozens of nodes it has all the primal aspects and has been healed into a pale node. Never having used Thaum 4.2, too much time with 3 and 4.1, I assumed it was just a basic feature of the advanced stabilizer.

Likely a bug, as the Thauminomicon entry even states "Firstly they still prevent lesser nodes from having their vis drained, but it does allow stabilised nodes to drain the vis from lesser ones", ie it doesn't change the normal mechanics of merging.

Lol I never bothered to read the Thauminomicon entry I just went by what I'd been told by a friend on the server and it worked, I guess I'll add this to the long list of bugs reported. For the OP, please disregard my advice as I seem to have been misinformed.
