the technic link will not work and I really wanted to play this pack as it is the first with DRPG and AoA.

Try the manual download, that one should definitely work.
My recommendation add mods that make the overworld interesting ex. chocolate quest.

I agree. I'll probably try to add that in the next update. Not sure if it's compatible, but if not I could add in Dungeon pack, Farlanders, or Rogue-like dungeons.

The same happened with me, simply try the manual download.

Open the jar file, and extract the contents like usual. Install the forge version given, and drop the mods into the mods folder.
