I do understand that its supposed to be "hardcore" but its at the point of Impossible. I really do want to keep playing this pack, but IMO its to scattered. The quests are almost random, with little clear progression. Without skipping back and forth through different pages. Would be nice to have something saying to look at this page for the next quest line or something.
As for the tool tips on the tools, I have played several packs that this is different. So for those who have been playing with TC wont see the difference. You could add that to the book at the start. That book was of great help and I think that the tools progressing from say "Stone to Copper" would be of great value in that starting book.
The next thing is the rarity of the ores. I have tried a few runs, and I run into about 40 or 50 iron ores, but only 2 copper. It might just be the way the map was generated for my play through. As I said before, I really would like to play this pack more, so please dont think I am just attacking the pack. This pack will be very popular, I just think it needs more tweaking. Again, I wish you all the VERY best of luck on this pack

The quest lines are set up to help you progress. They may seem slightly random, but they are there to get you to craft certain items or blocks that will help you progress through out the pack. As far as the multiple quest lines go, they are there to make it less confusing by splitting the quests up into different sections. It would be very confusing to the player if we didn't do it in this way.
The quest line helps the player with this aspect, but in all fairness, this pack isn't meant to be played by those who are new to modded as this is a challenge pack. If you are playing this pack you should have at least a basic knowledge of the more major mods in this pack, such as: Tinkers Construct and Thermal Expansion. Most of the other major mods are quickly learned by playing this pack like, ESM, Enviromine and TurkeyUtil.
Dark has spent hours perfecting the ores and making sure they spawn right. I doubt he will spend more time balancing them and further more, make sure you are mining at the right heights. The "How Not to Die" by Darkosto gives you very helpful information,
I have a question. My friend and I want to do a play through of this is it configured to place on a server yet?
I just uploaded a server download. I'm still working on the tweaks, such as the elevator only working for 1 person at this time. You may have to go into creative to get around some bugs as a temporary solution. But, the files are setup to correctly run a server

Looks like a good pack, and was recommended to me, but I don't see the viability for this as a multi-player server pack? I would be interested in hearing from anyone who can make this work as a Server Pack for more than one player...
I agree that it wouldn't be a good pack for a mass multiplayer, it would lend itself to be more of a co-op type of multiplayer due to the progression of the quests and dimensions.

hi, i'm having some issues, when i start the download on the ATL launcher, it stops when it is downloading the mods. i dont know why this happens and i have already tried with different versions of the modpack. please help
Is it saying anything? If not this seems like a problem with AT and not our pack.
I have a issue that I've had with a lot of packs and its that when minecraft opens the title screen is off to one corner, i don't believe that's the modpacks fault but what am i doing wrong? help modpack looks really good!
Me and my friend started this modpack a couple days ago. One massive problem we have noticed right off the bat is when one person goes to the cave dimension using the elevator, it disappears, forcing you to cheat in a second elevator so the second player can reach the same dimension (since inter-dimensional teleporting using commands is only possible with certain mods like galacticraft or mystcraft). We also spawned on a bedrock ceiling from the get go, so I had to load a single player world in order to find the coordinates of the spawn.
When we finally got to the dimension, we were immediately set upon by silverfish, zombies, creepers, spiders, and skeletons. we frantically dug into the wall, and sealed it off, only to have a wither skeleton hit me through the wall. (I had to teleport to my friend, because of the sheer amount of mobs and the creepers standing right next to the entrance). we finally got a base set up, and had resolved to never go outside of our hole ever again, when we were attacked by GHOST SPIDERS. After wrecking them, and getting wrecked a couple times ourselves, we burrowed further into the wall.
"Gertrud" the duck has been extremely helpful, although we have been afraid of a creeper exploding through the walls or ceiling of the base and slaughtering our beloved pet. I had to cheat in a reusable safari net because the original net was a single use net and we had to use it in order to get her to the dimension with us. Would you mind fixing the name? my OCD has been torturing me every time I look at that cute little duck (QUACK!!).
Did you know that the ghasts are evil? I did not realize the extent of their evil behavior until they started firing at our ceiling. They nearly blasted all the way through. I had to go into creative and patch up the 10 block deep hole because there was a creeper directly above our precious supply of chickens. Creepers have a nasty habit of exploding for no apparent reason at all.
Every single mob seems to hate villagers with a passion. After breaking a lucky block, a villager riding a stack of pigs appeared, only to get shot at by skeletons, and then blown up by a creeper. a tear or two was shed for that moneystealer, although the trade wasnt actually that bad.
food is a massive issue with this pack, as you will lose hunger even if you are doing the least active thing in all of minecraft: nothing. I nearly starved to death because of that stupid mechanic! X-D
me and my friend agreed to cheat in a few very lucky blocks in the beginning. even with some diamond gear, we got butchered in less than a minute. thank you NEI for magnet mode!!
why the hell do animals crap at such a rapid pace? seriously after two hours we had stacks of crap in a chest, and we ended up throwing most of it. I should have hit one of those damn drowning creepers... they deserve that.
speaking of which, WHY THE HELL DO THEY CREATE SILVERFISH BLOCKS AFTER THEY BLOW UP?!??! nothing is more infuriating than trying to get out of a hole that is blocked by the remnants of a drowning creeper, being mobbed by tough silverfish, WHICH might I add are immune to the flyswatter, while smart moving is making it impossible to get out of the water that is pouring into the hole you are in.
conclusion: This modpack easily rivals the difficulty of a modded UHC game, at least during the beginning. me and my friend do enjoy a challenge, but this pack needs some slight balancing and other tweaks.
finally, there is also a bug that I have encountered, where my inventory slots will "reset" to the initial number of slots, but any items i had in the previously unlocked slots will be trapped until I can manage to get enough levels to unlock a new slot, which usually fixes the problem (until next time).
This bug report/complaint/story of our lives (and many deaths) brought to you by Firdude
Edit: The F--KING ghasts have done it AGAIN!! they created a nice "skylight" for the base...
Another bug to report: the stone soup kicks you from the server if you try to consume it...
MMMMM Tasty
The tastiness is too much for the server to handle!
On a more serious note, we are aware and have fixed this in a dev version. I hope to upload it and make the fix within the next few days. Thank you for the report!

I appreciate the detailed report!!! Let me see if I can address your concerns and comments:
1. I am working on a fix for the multiplayer elevator issue. It's actually working as intended but since it was never really meant to be a multiplayer mechanic it isn't coded to be used by multiple players. It is being changed by the mod dev and will be updated soon.
2. Yes, mob difficulty is a very big part of the pack.
3. Gertrud is spelled correctly. This is not a typo. The modpack is based on Journey to the Center of the Earth which names the duck "Gertrud".
4. Ghasts are as evil as you have encountered because you are meant to never feel safe in this pack. The only way to survive is by putting a lot of blocks between you and the mobs.
5. Yup, mobs hate villagers a lot... a lot
6. Food is a massive issue, absolutely. This is intended. You'll need to find a sustainable source of food. The quests do a lot of this for you in the early game and you're meant to explore and find other sources.
7. Diamond gear does help, but I wouldn't suggest leaving your base for very long in the beginning.
8. The animal poop is actually useful, did you check out what you can use it for in NEI?
9. The drowning creepers that create silverfish block has been a core mechanic of that mod for a long time. That's the point of that mod, to create a structure that is a pain to overcome. The flyswatter does not do much damage to the tough silverfish because of their armor value, same thing happens with any other weapon. Smart moving does make it a pain and I am working on tweaking this mod a bit more.
I do appreciate the very detailed report, this is what helps make a pack better. Although mobs and hunger are a major issue and many die due to this I don't plan to change that aspect. This is not because I'm trying to be a jerk and not take criticism, it's simply because it's meant to be a very difficult aspect. I have balanced those aspects based on hundreds of hours played by myself and testers. I know food may seem like a major issue now, but trust me.. once you get a little more comfortable with the pack it becomes the smallest issue.
I do, however, continue to work on bugs and tweaks for something that does not work as intended such as the inventory slots disappearing. This is currently being fixed by the mod dev who works on that particular mod and I hope to get that out ASAP.
Once again, you are amazing for delivering such a great report of the good, bad, and ugly!! Please do not take anything I said as being harsh but there is a point where I do listen to critics and decide what will compromise the integrity of what I'm trying to accomplish with the pack and what will enhance it. Please continue to send more reports as you play more!!

Also some other tips.
2. You get 45 seconds of resistance, use it. Don't try and fight them or anything, just run.
3. Yes the annoying quacking sound is by design. I helps your characters sanity while lowering the person playing the pack's sanity
4. Creepers blow up when they cant get any closer to you in attempt to breach into where you are.
6. Limes. Limes are extremely helpful early game.
9. Yes as the bug swatter states, it deals 10 damage to mobs smaller than a block, but tough silver fish are slightly larger than that, so the fly swatter will not kill them. This is be design as we don't want the fly swatter to solve all of your silverfish problems.
Thank you for playing our mod pack and giving us your feed back, its greatly appreciated!!!
i saw the recipes for the poop, however i have no need for more dirt because of the friendly dirt creeper that filled my sapling growing room. I also saw the fertilizer, but have no need at the moment because of the plentiful amount of skeletons roaming around outside. i will be trying to make a mob grinder to farm some of the drops, however because of the doom creepers out there, i will be forced to do frequent repairs until i manage to get a MFR grinder, but having never used a MFR grinder on a doom creeper, I have no idea how that will end.
I had no idea that the silverfish + drowning creeper combo was part of that mod. i thought the entire time that the stone was meant to drown you or nearly drown you! for years i have thought that!
you learn something new every day...
i tested this pack in single player, and appeared in the most safe area ever. near the ceiling, no mobs able to spawn on the ledge, etc. etc. when i did this in a server, we spawned at the bottom of the world, in a lake of water, with mobs EVERYWHERE. the difference in the spawn locations... ouch.
the difference in visiblility at the top of the dimension, and at the bottom is intense, especially when you get "pandaburr's panda mask" or whatever its called.me and my friend cant see more than 6 blocks out of our hole, and yet i could see more than 20 blocks away when at the top of the world.
A hint for newcomers for this modpack: get night vision potions ASAP. while they are relatively expensive to create early on, they increase visibility to almost normal levels
despite the difficulty with starting out, and the numerous near ragequits, i have enjoyed this pack. i would love to see this pack develop further

I used the resistance trying to get my friend into the same dimension as me, however the skeletons in the water would not allow either of us near the edge of the lake (we appeared in the middle of the dark lake, far from shore.
The quacking isnt actually that annoying. we have a duck at home, so im used to the quacking.
limes: i will have to look into those. how is the decay rate? I also noticed that no matter what food you get, as soon as you recieve it or it drops, its already 20% rotten. im not sure if thats a bug or not.
yeah i noticed the text under the item name. i still find that annoying that tough silverfish are SO TOUGH. although i should have figured from the name...
i will keep you updated on bugs or other problems that we come across. keep this pack updated if possible!

found a few issues in the pack the first one is nether portals don't seem to work had to use the NEI portal to get to the nether and progress of quest book. The second one is that the quest where you need 8 resonant energy cells isn't working I have them all full and all sides on blue but manual submit and the QDS doesn't work for finishing the quest.

To get through the nether portal you need to be holding the correct item in your hand, were you doing this?
I will double check the resonant cell quest again, I don't remember it ever needing a QDS though.

PSSSSsssssss....
BOOM!
PSSSSsssssss....
BOOM!
To get through the nether portal you need to be holding the correct item in your hand, were you doing this?
I will double check the resonant cell quest again, I don't remember it ever needing a QDS though.
