Tough As Nails is a survival mod that aims to increase difficulty through realistic features such as thirst and body temperature. There are other features that tie into it as well, like a seasons system with changing grass/foliage colors, temperature shifting for snow in biomes that don't normally get any, and more.
Features:
Check out the official Tough As Nails wiki for more information about the mod, crafting recipes, and more!
One thing to note regarding the license, whilst commercialisation of the mod is prohibited, content such as YouTube videos and streams which use advertising are an exception. The commercial component of the license is intended towards those who attempt to steal mods, claim them as their own and make money from them and is by no means meant to harm those who have good intentions. If you have any questions regarding the license please feel free to contact us through Twitter, Discord, or IRC.
Right now, you can only change the lowered starting health amounts. We wanted to get the mod released as soon as possible (Since it's basically just been sitting on Github forever), and since config options for disabling entire features will need to sync up with the server, it would've taken longer.
We plan on having options to disable each core feature or the mod though (As well as tweaking various values for each feature), as I'm sure there will be a lot of people who only want to use this for the seasons, and so on. Adubbz (The programmer) is fairly busy with school during the week, so I'm not entirely sure how long it'll be until they're added.

I'm guessing this is like EnviroMine except it's for 1.9.4 and adds Seasons?
I'm going to keep watch on this. It looks amazing.
Question though... Is hunger enabled for this mod in peaceful mode? because I would love to have the option to turn hunger on in peaceful. and be able to turn it off if I want. (I wouldn't turn it off though XD)
A question! Would it be possible for you guys to mess also with the mobs? I mean, tweak them so they can also feel, hunger, thirst, heat and cold. Furthermore, to develop the sense of realism by adding..."gender"? [Add roosters, bulls, rams and hogs]. In addition, there is a mod called Diseasecraft! Maybe you can add compatibility with it in the future?
One last question! In which Minecraft versions, are you planning to develop the mod? [1.9.4, 1.8, 1.9?]
I've never tried a mod like this before because they had too many annoying or complex feature. This mod looks simpler but just as realistic as them. Good job! I know I'll be using this a lot.

Hello! Are you planning to make 1.9 version? There are so few 1.9.4 mods and I'm sad of sacrificing "minecraft comes alive" and some other mods to play this one D:

Probably not gonna do that. It's one of those features that feels like it'd be more tedious than it's worth, if you have to keep animals feed, hydrated, and so on. As for mod compatibility, I don't see why it wouldn't be compatible as it is. Unless you mean some kind of integration, in which case, I know nothing about the mod, or what it would need to integrate with.
As for versions, we are not doing backports to 1.8.9 or 1.9, or 1.7.10 for that matter. We will be updating the mod to new versions of Minecraft as soon as Forge is available for them, however.
Suggestion: Dynamic temperature change. When inside a house I should feel comfy and warm, not freezing to death in the middle of winter. Especially when the house is filled with torches!
In real life, if you had a house without heating, you would freeze to death in the middle of winter. We have heating/cooling coils that are meant to be used for houses, and will generally heat/cool the entire space of a house. Check out the wiki for more info.
We didn't want to use torches as a proper heating solution, as they're way too easy to craft, and they last forever, so it would make the whole temperature system kind of pointless. Just think of torches as candles I guess. Just there to give off light.

No. Updating to 1.9.4 from 1.9 isn't even that much effort at all. Tell other mod devs to stop being lazy.

Huge sad face D=
Enviromine is no longer being actively developed, so it's gonna be unfortunate that 1.7.10 won't have a good hunger/thirst mod. I still like to make modpacks in 1.7.10 because that version has a much wider selection of mods, and it's much easier to make themed modpacks for 1.7.10.

Does anyone know if this works with harvest craft juices yet? Anyways, it looks like a great mod and I'll definitely be keeping an eye on this. Great work!

No, we do not have an API yet, or config options for custom drinks. Both are high on our to-do list, so it will be coming soon

We're aware of the issue. Problem is, the logs don't show any useful info to help us fix it

Not currently, although it's a good idea. Likewise, getting colder the higher you go would work well

I've just uploaded a new release which should address this problem, as well as a few other things

I'm more curious is, where do you find the heart crystals?
Chests in Nether fortresses.

Also, just a note to everyone, the current 1.9.4 version works on 1.10 as well.
