Update time! I fixed the graphics bug in the new version (v1.0.1). I couldn't replicate your problem, Kreezxil, but I noticed that the way I parsed the config option, it would have problems if there was a space before or after the option. That's now fixed in v1.0.1, so let me know whether your bug still persists.

Your fluid pipes do they only attach to your fluid containers or are they supposed to attach to any fluid containers? I ask because Ex Nihilo 2 for 1.8 is here and his barrels don't interface to your pipes.
No, the fluid pipes in Power Advantage do not connect to fluid containers (because the pipes themselves are not fluid containers and have no tile entities), but I could make the drain pull from fluid containers (it doesn't yet, but that's a good idea).
Another possibility is to make a pump block that acts like the item conveyors, but for fluids.
Edit: It was a really easy change to make the drain pull from fluid handlers above and the discharge put fluids in a fluid handler below. New version 1.0.2 will at least make the setup in that screenshot work (I hope).

It didn't make that setup work, I did test to make sure the drain and discharge were working correctly and they were. That would possibly mean the barrel provided by Ex Nihilo 2 (1.8) is either not a fluid-handler, or not a proper fluid-handler. Or something. No console messages to report.
From what I've seen of the Ex Nihilo barrels, you click on it to fill and unfill items. As you've said, it might not be set up to fill or drain otherwise.

Custom fluids aren't quite working in Forge 1.8 yet (specifically, they don't render), and you can put a lot of things in the Ex Nihilo barrels besides water, so there's a good chance that they aren't fluid handlers.
As for the backpacks, I don't think I'll be adding that. It's a good idea, but I like to keep my mods focused on a specific concept and the packpacks don't fall under the "powered automation" or "steam-punk" categories. If I ever get to making the Quantum Advantage mod add-on (that's a long ways off), then I'll likely add a backpack-like item that functions as a portable ender chest.

They are true fluid tanks (IFluidTank). I just haven't had any working fluid pipes to test with in 1.8 yet, so it's very possible that there are bugs or mistakes in the code that I haven't found. I'm looking into it.
EDIT: Derp. Implented IFluidTank instead of IFluidHandler. This is totally my fault.
Here's that Steam Drill I've been talking about it. It can drill in any of the 6 cardinal directions and is totally awesome!

I fixed the GUI bug that Majeskyc2K1 found. It was an embarrassingly simple bug.
As for outputing directly to a chest, that's doable, but slightly complicated. Suppoed you put a steam drill right next to a rock crusher, a modded chest (e.g. an iron chest), and a coal-fired steam boiler. Where should the items go? All of those blocks have inventories, but no obvious priority scheme, especially for chests provided by other mods.
The pickaxe silhouette was added just to indicate that the blocks are coming from a mining operation. I guess I could let you use an enchanted pickaxe, but only the fortune enchantment would have any real effect (efficiency could speed things up, but not by much due to the fact that the drill bit can only extend so fast).

If there is a chest, it should always be given a priority. But this kind of decision making is always done by the pipes and gates that have been supplied by various mods, instead of the machinery directly so other than a chest, you can disable anything else as far as drill output.. In fact you started with the conveyors and filters of your own, and this is ultimately the setup you need to have when you're connecting a drill to anything for post processing the product.
I had placed the chest right on top of the Drill. I was used to attaching chests to drills/quarrys, so that's why I asked. I was thinking of future proofing it, when using this mod with other mods that add additional materials that can be mined/drilled.

The trick is there that it isn't obvious what is or is not a chest. From the perspective of a tile entity, you can tell if a neighboring block has an inventory and how big that inventory is, but "chest" is just a name stored in the language files. I suppose one possibility would be to spit out the items randomly into neighboring inventory blocks and simply add the "for best results, use only one chest" label, but that's not quite satisfying. Another possibility would be to only insert into a block directly opposite the drill bit. That might be simple and intuitive enough to add without confusing people.
You raise a good point, Zohar, that another mod that is designed around inventory management will probably pull items out of a machine rather than require the machine to push into the organizer blocks.

Any chance you could add some kind of backpack or pouch to add extra inventory slots? I miss my Tinker's backpack.

The new steam drill is cool. Very fast. Of course, I have a few questions:
Can you make the drill output to a chest?
There is a pick shadow on the GUI. Can you make it so a pick with enchants can be placed there to use the enchants?
