Rather than adding the drops separately, though, maybe you should add them together with weights, so it's more like gravel and flint. You can add all the drops in a single entry, with weights saying how common they should be. Then you can't farm the materials by just placing a block and digging it over and over. =) Or maybe that's how mcmmo works; I'm not that familiar with it.

got another question you can only put in new stuff into the mod and not edit the old stuff like bows.....i wanted to make bows repairable with string or stone tools repairable with cobble and yeah you get the idea XD yes or no to the original stuff?

So an example of adding drops... you could make dirt drop itself, glowstone dust, mushrooms or cocoa beans (like you had in the spoiler above) with something like:
First remove the drop from the block:

And then add the drops for regular, and then just dirt for silk touch drops:

Hmm, and unfortunately I don't think it's possible to change the repair material of the vanilla items. They store their repair materials (or lack thereof) in a way that I can't change.

I've been editing chest drops by 'disabling' some items (setting their weight to 0) and adding other things. Disabled items don't show up, however my additions do not. I even set one item's weight to 99 but no matter how many chests I check (creative placing and opening chests from the Loot++ tab over and over), the additions just aren't showing up.
Some of these items, I got from the ID file but most of them were already in the chest_content.cfg file already (and I just edited the weights). They're all mod items. I can't for the life of me find anything wrong in the config file so I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. And there are no errors coming up

Like shadowake said, you have to put it in the additions one. It's a slightly different format as well. There should be an example in the instructions.
i really love the mod but i have a request, can you add a entity_drops readout from the game so i can make the needed changes
Unfortunately that's not possible. Entity drops are handled by each mob separately and differently; there is no list of them anywhere. I modify them in the forge event that runs when the mob dies. I have no idea what might be in it.
However I'm working on an update right now for 1.8 where you can put the word 'any' instead of a specific item to remove all the drops.
I've changed and added a few things to the 1.8 version... here's the change log:
Fixed bows hurting you constantly when shooting multiple arrows
Fixed the cake block having the wrong number of slices
Gave Skeletons an the ability to use Loot++ bows (and yes, they shoot multiple arrows if bow shoots multiple arrows)
Removed glitchy double slab item. It shouldn't affect your world; the double slabs are a technical block.
Added the ability to add new creative tabs
Added throwable items
Added 16-metadata block
Added the ability to add commands as block and entity drops, as well as drops for the new thrown item
Added "Next" tag for command trigger items, which holds the tag for the command trigger item it will turn into when it runs
Added the ability for entities to run commands from their position passively, when hurt, and on death. It's in the tag:
ForgeData:{LootPPCommands{CommandList:["/say passive command 1", "/sat passive command 2"], Delays=[<Delay until command 1 runs>, <Delay until command 2 runs>], Repeat=<If true, passive commands start over when all finish>, CommandListOnHurt[], DelaysOnHurt[], CommandListOnDeath[], DelaysOnDeath[]}}
Added 5 commands, /lppteleport, /lppmount, /lppcondition, /lppeffect, and /lppentitydata. Type them into chat and hit tab for more info, but note that the teleport works between dimensions, the condition runs one command, and decides which other command to run based on the output of the first, and the entitydata is just like the vanilla one but also works on players
Modified the chest size in the config to be a string list so it can be modified by addons
Various other tweaks and fixes
Note that if you have added custom items to the creative menu previously, you will have to re-do them in the new format. Same with modifying the min and max items in loot chests. I changed that to a string list so it can be modified by addons as well.
I really want to backport all these changes to 1.7, but I'm too busy right now looking for work. If only I was doing this as a job...
I'd like to ask you guys to support me on patreon if you can. If you can't though, that's okay. If I get enough money, then I can focus on working on mods like this, and make this my job, instead of looking for one.
And even a small amount makes a difference. Think about it this way: if everyone who has downloaded this mod were to pay 1 cent, it would be over $150. =)

You have to put additions under the additions headings not the default headings.

Curse PremiumLike shadowake said, you have to put it in the additions one. It's a slightly different format as well. There should be an example in the instructions.
Unfortunately that's not possible. Entity drops are handled by each mob separately and differently; there is no list of them anywhere. I modify them in the forge event that runs when the mob dies. I have no idea what might be in it.
However I'm working on an update right now for 1.8 where you can put the word 'any' instead of a specific item to remove all the drops.

I've changed and added a few things to the 1.8 version... here's the change log:

Note that if you have added custom items to the creative menu previously, you will have to re-do them in the new format. Same with modifying the min and max items in loot chests. I changed that to a string list so it can be modified by addons as well.
I really want to backport all these changes to 1.7, but I'm too busy right now looking for work. If only I was doing this as a job...

i found a small bug with the skeletons holding custom bows,
if the draw time is lower then a normal bow, the skeletons don't use the bow
