After killing a lot of zombies with an autospawner/grinder and by hand with a looting sword non of the added items dropped. Even after changing the override to true, rotten flesh still dropped.
My other configs work for blocks and items, just this one doesn't.

Try seeing if having this configuration in a separate file will work. I have tried it and it worked for me. There is one thing that I would change in the configuration.
I recommend that the minimum number is set to 0 ("min" : 0,) instead of 1 ("min" : 1,). The chance configurtation for entiteDrop is just like eachExtraItemDropChance configuration for blocks. Setting the min to 0 will insure the random chance drop.
Otho, what is you're stance on mod pack permissions for Custom Items?
The FTB 3rd Party Pack Team defaults to requiring pack makers to ask for permission if the license is not stated in the original post, so if you have open permissions you may want to add that.
As much as we would like to have everything right now, realistically I know you are working hard on this mod. Better to do it right the first time then wrong. You set you own schedule on when it gets done anyways. Though I was getting worried that this mod was going to be abandoned. I am glad to hear that you still are continuing.
I just wanted to drop a quick "Thanks for your mod" message, it really is an extremely useful piece of work for mod pack creators, and with this years Jam Packed coming to a close, I'm sure even more people will catch on to it.
I was going to link a pastebin for the "NetherOres - MetaMod" crash, but as someone else did I'll just mention this; If you place a single nether-ore down, and mine it nothing seems to crash, however mining one from a cluster of ores causes the crash. I'm assuming this has something to do with NetherOres detonating the other blocks around it. It seems turning of the detonation in NetherOres config doesnt resolve the issue. Since it only happens with Meta-Mod installed I assume its not something on NetherOres end. Hopefully im not wrong lol, but I dont know.
Once again thank you for the extremely useful mod. I really enjoy it, and like so many others am anxiously awaiting 1.0.10
Is it possible to change the texture of an existing block?
You just have to change the texture using a texture pack. ^^
And it is better to create new files than to change the defaultConfigs files. There is a property on customitems.cfg called "remake", that restores the default files to the default configs.
For some reason, Github's New Pull Request button sends me to a Compare Pull Requests section so I'll post my issue here.

I want to apologies about the mistake in the documentation. "potionEffect":{ Stuff here} should be "potionEffects":[{ Stuff here }]. For a better example take a look at the following spoiler. I used the first configuration you posted.
Question, how would I go about making a drink that leaves a glass bottle behind?
In the Foods configuration there is an attribute called "dropItemName". You will be able to specify what you will get returned after consuming the food related item.
I'm trying to add some items to mob drops but it doesn't seem to be detecting my config.

So, do I have permission to use Custom Items in my JamPacked 2 mod pack submission?
Biochao, I have updated the first post of this thread.
But answering your question. You have my permission to use CI in your modpack
And sorry for being so late on 1.0.10
You should give it a look

I apologize if this was answered somewhere and I missed it in my search, but
Can you have this just on the server, or does the client need to have it as well?
I am so very confused and will love it so very much if someone can help me out!

- and I have all the textures in the jar (customitems-1.0.8_1.7.10.jar/assets/customitems/textures/blocks).
But none of the blocks show up in my game!
I tried searching NEI, I tried using creative mode search - I got nothing! What's going wrong?!
Halp!!
Um... That's the default one, sure you enclosed the right text?
Both client and server need the mod. ^^
If you just put the mod on the mods folder, it should automatically give you some items. Could you try this?
You should give it a look

You're right! Both my client and server configs reverted to default settings on me, I didn't notice that... and I don't know why. *sadface*
I didn't see the items, so since my changes were gone anyways, I updated to the newer version - I can at least see the default new stuff now!
Is it possible to change the texture of an existing block?
Yea, I had that happen, too - did you have your server/client running while you edited it? That was my mistake the first time
You just have to change the texture using a texture pack. ^^
And it is better to create new files than to change the defaultConfigs files. There is a property on customitems.cfg called "remake", that restores the default files to the default configs.

Ohhhh, I missed that fact! I bet that's what did it - thanks!!!
-edit/addon-
Sorry to be a little pest, but another question; is it possible to make a block bouncy, like the slime blocks in 1.8?
For some reason, Github's New Pull Request button sends me to a Compare Pull Requests section so I'll post my issue here.
Did something with Potion effects change? This used to work but after updating to the most recent version the potions don't appear on my character when I eat the food:
http://pastebin.com/1ds3yFHb
Kill two stones with one bird whenever possible
At the moment, it is not possible to make a block bouncy. I will however post the suggestion at the Bitbucket. The post is as followed: https://bitbucket.org/Otho/metamod-customitems/issue/18/bouncy-block
I want to apologies about the mistake in the documentation. "potionEffect":{ Stuff here} should be "potionEffects":[{ Stuff here }]. For a better example take a look at the following spoiler. I used the first configuration you posted.
{
"foods":
[
{
"name":"Cooked Mutton",
"textureName":"muttoncooked",
"healAmount": 4,
"saturationModifier": 0.625,
"creativeTab": "Foodstuffs",
"isWolfFood": "true",
"potionEffects":[
{
"effect": "regeneration",
"potionDuration": 7.5,
"potionAmplifier": 0,
"potionEffectProbability": 1.00
}]
]
}
The reason the syntax was changed so you where able to add multiple effects to a food item. Apologies for not updating the wiki.
All bug report are now to be on Bitbucket. The following link will take you there: https://bitbucket.org/Otho/metamod-customitems/issues
Question, how would I go about making a drink that leaves a glass bottle behind?
In the Foods configuration there is an attribute called "dropItemName". You will be able to specify what you will get returned after consuming the food related item.
Example: "dropItemName": "minecraft:bowl"
The documentation for it is here: http://www.otho.me/mods/customitems/index.php?title=Documentation#Foods
