1. You saved me hours of mining. Literally. This mod is absolutely great
2. Do you think it is possible to sort the Items by their value? Right now the items are put into the chest in the order they were in the inventory, meaning that its possible to save dirt and losing diamonds. I have no idea how your mod works and modding in general but maybe you can find a way to put all (at least vanilla) items into categories depending on their rarity and crafting complexity. This would be extremely awesome! (If it doesn't work with modded items a disabling option would be great)
As cool as this idea is, value is somewhat subjective and there is a simple solution to this. Just keep your diamonds in your main inventory instead of your hot bar and they should be saved every time
Based on the post above, I have to ask. Does this mod have an option to save items that were in the hotbar, and armor slots, *first*?
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
How to deal with ignorance (in life, and on forums): The Zen way... Stay cool and polite, treat people as you wish to be treated, rise above your impatience. Everyone is ignorant of something at any point in their lives, including you.
Based on the post above, I have to ask. Does this mod have an option to save items that were in the hotbar, and armor slots, *first*?
Well, here is the thing about that. This class is where the magic happens in this mod. It works by getting all the items dropped by the player, however the list I get from Forge about the items is not grouped. Therefore, I don't have a way to determine what was in the players hotbar.
Hi, is there a way to make this work for Terrafirmacraft which doesn't allow weapons and armour to be stored in chests? I would rather have this option than use keepInventory command. Because of the grindy nature of the mod, losing armour and weapons really sucks.
I can't say I've tried it myself because I don't play with that mod. Considering that is a mechanic of the mod, chances are I would have to disable it using ASM, which isn't something that will be pleasant. There is a slim chance that since technically the server places the items in the chest as opposed to a player it might work, but no promises.
Hmm, after playing around with this a bit, I've come to notice that if you have a Saving Stone in your inventory and you die by falling into the void, your game simply crashes. I'm using not enough items and code chicken core as my only two other mods.
Edit: Forgot to note that I am using the 1.7.10 version of the mod. Not sure if you are still interested in fixing anything there.

Can I get a log? And honestly this probably won't end up being a high priority fix due to the fact that this mod is intended for use in survival and there is no possible way to die to the void in survival as far as I know
Well it happens in the end as well and you can get there in survival. Anyways here is the crash log.
Edit: I think another reason to fix it would be because a lot of people use this for mods that make the game a lot more difficult, and a lot of those mods have other dimensions that contain the void. Referring to Divine RPG in particular for my case. If you decide not to fix it, I guess we'll just have to be extra careful in those dimensions.

There is just a small problem with fixing that. Where should I put the chest? Since the player technically falls off the map I have to try to guess where the edge they fell from was. The best I could do is just have nothing occur to avoid the crash.
I was wondering if you could add a config option to disable the crafting recipe of the saving stone, even if it is enabled as a requirement to generate chests? Our server could use another money sink and having players buy or trade for them from the server shop would help the economy.

Minetweaker can do this. This is kind of weird request though, intentionally cutting off features of the mod.
Yeah, I can probably do this with Minetweaker since I'll need that for a second mod now. The only reason I asked was to force people to spend some of their virtual currency. It's hard to have a working economy with so many people hoarding coin.

If you want to force hoarders to spend their money, taxation is your salvation.
Does this not work right if my inventory is completely full? It did not spawn a chest for me on top of a mountain all the way on the other side of the map, I was exploring in the boat. Should I try re-installing it? Is there a way to check if it's active?
Is it ok if I put it into the Mods>1.8 folder or should I just put it in the mods folder. I'm going to move it up one folder into the normal mods folder. This sucks, I lost hours of rare stuff I acquired whiled exploring, thought I had protection.
I was blown up by a creep, does that make a difference?
Post your logs. It should show in the mods menu. There is a chance you had requireSavingStone set to true in the config or that the creeper blew up your chest.

Hey, thanks for getting back to me. It always shows up int he mods menu, so I figured it must be loaded. I see MC makes a gz archive for every sessions log, I'm new to MC and just joined the forums, I'm not sure which log it is, as I wanted to ask about it but didn't join up for a couple of days after it happened, sorry about not posting the log. I've only died twice since installing the mod and it did work the first time (right next to my base hahaha). I'll jump out next time I die and grab the log after I see if it worked, just used NB explorer to turn cheats on so I can teleport to last death next time to check. I think my saving stone setting must is set to false, not sure where to check, but it worked once and I've never had one of those stones. Thanks for the Mod by the way, saves quite a bit of frustration.
Did a quick search for "DeathChest" in my last four logs and the only mention are these:
[14:31:17] [main/INFO]: Inspecting jar metadata in 'DeathChest-1.0.2.jar'
and then
[23:15:02] [Client thread/INFO]: Forge Mod Loader has identified 4 mods to load
[23:15:02] [Client thread/INFO]: Attempting connection with missing mods [mcp, FML, Forge, DeathChest] at CLIENT
[23:15:02] [Client thread/INFO]: Attempting connection with missing mods [mcp, FML, Forge, DeathChest] at SERVER

I think we're good here, I'll know next time I die, if there is no chest I'll post jump out and post the full log.
Quick question though, what happens to the contents of the chest if it does get blown up, will they spill out or will they be destroyed?
Thanks.
PS. Most disturbing avatar ever hahahaha, where is it from?

I think we're good here, I'll know next time I die, if there is no chest I'll post jump out and post the full log.
Quick question though, what happens to the contents of the chest if it does get blown up, will they spill out or will they be destroyed?
Thanks.
PS. Most disturbing avatar ever hahahaha, where is it from?
I actually googled for it but I believe this shot in particular was inspired by the movie The Poughkeepsie Tapes, or maybe The Poughkeepsie tapes got it from somewhere else. Either way its still a great movie. As for the mod stuff. You can find the option for the saving stone in your config folder. The file will be called DeathChest.cfg.
Sure. I'll have it out today
I'll try my best. at best both versions will be out by tomorrow. A family emergency came up and that has made me rather busy.
How to deal with ignorance (in life, and on forums): The Zen way... Stay cool and polite, treat people as you wish to be treated, rise above your impatience. Everyone is ignorant of something at any point in their lives, including you.
Well, here is the thing about that. This class is where the magic happens in this mod. It works by getting all the items dropped by the player, however the list I get from Forge about the items is not grouped. Therefore, I don't have a way to determine what was in the players hotbar.

The best I could do is just have nothing occur to avoid the crash.
each second, store where the player was last stading and touching the ground
EDIT: it was to be a reply to "Where should I put the chest?" I clicked something else I guess..

This kills the server. RAM usage would be incredibly high on heavily populated servers and all servers would take a fair sized performance hit.
Just saw this mod released for 1.8.

[14:31:17] [main/INFO]: Inspecting jar metadata in 'DeathChest-1.0.2.jar'
and then

I think we're good here, I'll know next time I die, if there is no chest I'll post jump out and post the full log.
Quick question though, what happens to the contents of the chest if it does get blown up, will they spill out or will they be destroyed?
Thanks.
