Barrier between the worlds?
I haven't heard of anything similar:O
Well this is all speculation of us Thaumcraft users.
I have always thought of hungry nodes being caused by two possible things:
1. The node has lost its connection to the place where it draws vis from so it starts to drain vis from the environment surrounding it to sustain itself.
2. Nodes themselves are apparently holes from which vis leaks into the world. Hungry nodes could be when the hole is opened a bit too much and starts trying to suck things into the place where the vis is coming from, but since only vis can exist there, anything that it tries to send through is forcefully converted into vis.

I like the first one.
Also any theories on what the eldritch wants and why they spawn when you have high warp? Is warp like an way to look through the barrier that conceals them and their dimension normally or something? (Weird thought but its something at least:3)
Those four pedestals are the only ones I have placed. Any unused pedestals are stored in a chest.
And, yes. The fourth item is an air shard and it's right there on the pedestal. It's hard to see because the items keep slowly rotating.
Pedestals that aren't in use won't have any effect on stability as long as they're symmetrical. Also, you can have stabilizers above the altar as well. I apologize if you know this already.
Could someone tell me why I should or shouldn't allow nodes to eat each other?
If you want to build a massive node to easily recharge your wands/scepters/staves via recharge pedestal, or later convert it to an energized node to power the devices that can run on centivis, you definitely want to pick a nice node and have it eat it's lesser cousins.

There are pros and cons to feeding nodes to each other.
Pros:
More vis in less space
Recommended to grow a node before energizing it
Just look cool.
Cons
One huge node recharges much slower then five smaller nodes
A great deal of vis is lost in the process. Your average node is only going to add 1-3 points of what aspects it has to the one that consumes it.
You're losing nodes that could be used for ethereal essence. With wisps and guardian's, that isn't as much of a problem but still something worth mentioning.
It can take a long time to "Finish" the process of feeding a node to another, depending on how many aspect are in the node and RNG luck.

Alright, thanks, so I should invest in the stabilizers then?

Depends, really. If the node is far larger then what you're feeding it, no. If the node being feed is only slightly larger, yes. Remember that for the safety of nothing being able to feed off it, you lose almost all vis regeneration. I personally would invest in the stabilizer, if only for the fact they are always going to be useful to have around for node breeding and nurturing(Repairing a unstable or fading node).
No idea if it's the latest vers of thaumcraft, forge or something else but since I updated both TC and forge wisp spawners won't spawn anything... has anyone else experienced this?

Yeah i have the same problem. I have a wisp spawner over liquid death to get essence shards, but it is not spawning anything. It starts spawning again only when I move it and put in the same place...

mhh I well at least moving it fix it... I'll have to wait to get to the point I can move them... *sadface*
Okay, now I'm sure the fishing golem has a bugged enchantment randomizer. Not only do all the bows it catches have the same enchantments, now all the books do too. Power 3/Punch 1 and Projectile Protection 4 respectively.

You want a farm, you grab a hoe. You want a boat, you grab some wood. You want a fireplace, you grab A FLAMING HELL-BOULDER BECAUSE THAT'S HOW MINECRAFTERS ROLL!!!

Actually, since the Stabilizer shuts down the "feeding" process, a better solution is to just use it on the Node doing the eating when the "nutrient" Node is almost empty, allowing it to replenish.
I've noticed that whenever the eating Node zaps the eaten Node, it usually does not absorb capacity, only draining the eaten node's current vis levels. Using the stabilizer on the eating node will allow you to "re-roll" for more capacity absorption.

Bug with research: when I complete a research and read the finished note, I can't access it in the Thaumonomicon or start its dependent researches until I relog. Until I do, it behaves exactly like uncompleted research, except that when it says it's adding a note to my inventory it doesn't really add one.
Edit: I can actually do the crafting, as long as I remember the recipe.

Alternatively, if you surround the bully node with at least 3 victim nodes, the bully has to divide its attentions and the victims get drained slower than they charge. It's not indefinite (the victims occasionally get their caps reduced even if they aren't drained dry, and the bigger the bully gets the slower it grows), but it does get you maximum efficiency. Just don't let the victims interact with each other.

they go on the bottom of logs now, not on the side

It causes you to leave flux goo where you stand.
You're either vomiting it out or... you know what else.
Yeah, It seems warp can have some... unpleasant... effects on the body as well as the mind...
Thank you Malk - been driving me mad. I'll try that
