A very minor point, but do you think you could make the downloads on the site have a version number in the file name? I like to easily see what version something is when I'm looking through my mod folder, and it also helps prevent excessive downloads when, for instance, the Aether II mod updates, but the Gilded Games Util doesn't update. I could see "Oh, the util is still in version 1.1, but the mod updated to 1.3" without having to load it up in MultiMC.
I appreciate the work being done on the mod. I remember when the original Aether mod came out. I was still a noob at modding them, and I never manged to get it to work, but I'm excited to see a revival of a project I greatly looked forward to back then.
EDIT: It appears that the Util actually did update, but that the version number just wasn't updated with it. In any case, it would be a big help if the files could have version numbers in the name.

The downloads on the website use the same location and same directories as the launcher downloads. They're named this way to completely assure that the old files are overwritten when new updates are released. We'll consider doing this in the future, though!

Oh, sorry, I do manual download. I'm using MultiMC and making a personal modpack, so that's why I'm manually downloading.

Mhm, it's just their the same download location, the launcher pulls from the exact same download link that's on the downloads page for manual installs. I tried to make it pretty clear on posts that you need to update both today, just to be sure.
Oh and...

i find it best not to update to newer versions of aether II 1.7.10. because they could mess up your worlds. meaning you would have to start over.
Whenever you're updating any mod in a pre-existing world, there's a chance it can mess things up. Always at least make a backup, and it's not a bad idea to just leave the mods in their original version if it's a world you care about.

i find it best not to update to newer versions of aether II 1.7.10. because they could mess up your worlds. meaning you would have to start over.
There hasn't been any major terrain generation changes in the recent updates. Certainly remember to back up your worlds before updating, but it's always best to be on the latest version that doesn't totally corrupt anything, even if it makes for a few chunks of odd terrain.

you should add pegassi to the mod. ya got cows and pigs with wings, and every other heavenly mob you can think of, but no pegassus. Pegassi would be a great addition to the Aether. This is just a suggestion though. It's your mod, so you do what you want with it.

There is only so much you can do with your life... so waste it doing absolutely nothing.
Could someone tell me which files i have to copy into the mods folder of which forge server version, when using an automaticly installed client ?
thank you
I"m using forge 1347 just because I haven't updated, but newer versions of forge should work and would probably be better. I just looked at the forge version they have in the downloads section on their site and it's 1291, so I suppose that's the earliest version you could use.
If you look in the first post here, you should see a link for "downloads for manual installs". Download the Aether II and Gilded Games Util files there, place those in your mod folder, and you're all set.

This is a suggestion we get a lot. We're really trying to shy away from copying overworld animals now, though, since Phygs, Flying Cows, and Sheepuffs are already basically direct ripoffs. It's a neat suggestion, but probably won't make it in, sorry!
Install it and try! The Aether II should be compatible with most mods, but if you're asking if the Aether II supports Witchery in that our mod has code for Witchery, or vice versa, that's a bit less likely as we haven't made any direct strides toward that with any mods.

Certainly possible! If you want, I'd recommend going on over to our suggestions forum. I'm typically the only one here reading MCF, but a majority of our dev team reads our forums often, including our lead designer and lead artist. That's the best place to get your ideas noticed!
Will mutation be posted on this forum page or will it have a new forum page since this is an alpha forum page and mutation is beta?
Edit: fixed spelling errors.
Will probably keep it here with a huge edit, since I can also change the title of the thread. Or we might repost to go through a Gilded Games account over kingbdogz's personal one, who knows!

So while playing with this mod I've come to notice something with Aether trees. It seems that the purple crystal and dark blue skyroot trees can't grow in dense clusters like vanilla trees can. Specifically, I'm trying to grow a few of these trees when their saplings are only 3 blocks apart. One of the trees will grow but then whole stacks of bonemeal can't make the other one grow. I've tried making sure that the sapling has a clear line to the sky but still no dice. I've also noticed that when two such trees do grow from saplings close together (usually around 7 blocks apart) that the leaves and wood of both trees never coincide. Vanilla oak trees by contrast can be planted immediately adjacent to one another as they all will still grow (albeit very slowly).
My question is this: is there some trick to getting the skyroot trees to grow in dense clusters like I want or does their spawn algorithm prevent them form ever growing if there is something in the way? If the former, what exactly do I need to do to make that happen, and if the latter, what exactly are the minimum spacial dimensions around a skyroot sapling that it needs to be assured of successful growth? Also if the latter I would like to request for the future updates that skyroot saplings be allowed to grow in dense clusters like vanilla trees.
I have absolutely no idea how to start a party. I keep hearing about this great party system, but nowhere on the face of the internet is there any documentation on how to form one. I just want to enter a dungeon with my friends in our LAN world but I can't find the button to start a party.

Also if the latter I would like to request for the future updates that skyroot saplings be allowed to grow in dense clusters like vanilla trees.
We're well aware of this, yes. They currently can't grow together and leaves won't overlap like you're mentioning. We'll absolutely keep this in mind for future generation code. What I believe happens with tree growth is the generation of the tree is pre-determined when you use the bone meal, and if another block would be in its way, it blocks the growth. This strict generation change is due in part to a bug that involved Golden Oak Trees growing through any block.
I have absolutely no idea how to start a party. I keep hearing about this great party system, but nowhere on the face of the internet is there any documentation on how to form one. I just want to enter a dungeon with my friends in our LAN world but I can't find the button to start a party.
The party system has a lot of issues in 1.7.10, and it may not currently display in LAN worlds. You enter the party menu by opening your chat and clicking on the "Party" tab at the top of the screen, which again may not display properly on LAN.

Oh and...

Awesome. Hopefully the party systems one of those bugs that's been fixed. ^^.
Edit: Nope. Still busted

Whenever you're updating any mod in a pre-existing world, there's a chance it can mess things up. Always at least make a backup, and it's not a bad idea to just leave the mods in their original version if it's a world you care about.
Back from a long weekend out of town. Miss me, MCF?
Thanks for your help! We've gotten insane support from people wanting to assist in localizing the Aether II, glad you could help out!
We're well aware of issues with Flan's Mod and will look into it.
Yeah, quite sorry about that, we didn't have time to get the party changes tested and worked into 1.3.
Saying that, the next patch (v1.7.10-1.4) should address most if not all of these issues as we move to Gilded Games Utility's group system.
Download the Aether II and Gilded Games Util files there, place those in your mod folder, and you're all set.
is the aether compatible with witchery?
Will probably keep it here with a huge edit, since I can also change the title of the thread. Or we might repost to go through a Gilded Games account over kingbdogz's personal one, who knows!
Mutation is on hold while we work on polishing 1.7.10, rewriting for 1.8 (which is going well!), and a few other unannounced projects.
i think that he is talking about the aerbears and angels
Non-Aether projects.
The party system has a lot of issues in 1.7.10, and it may not currently display in LAN worlds. You enter the party menu by opening your chat and clicking on the "Party" tab at the top of the screen, which again may not display properly on LAN.
